It was the Almighty Allah’s desideratum that women work in the field of raising and educating people.
Sheikh Mohammad Mutauli Sha’arawi has made a comparison between a woman’s role in nurturing people and her involvement in working outside the home, akin to men. He believes that a woman’s duty is more sensitive and vital than a man’s: when a man works outside the home, he deals with objects and materials, while those objects are provided to serve a human being, who is the noblest creature on earth.
But a woman’s duty is to interact with this highly advanced creature, which is honorable and dignified in the sight of Allah Almighty, and that creature is none other than a human being, this woman interacts with a man once as a wife and is his place of peace and tranquility. and after spending a busy day of work, the man takes refuge in her lap and rests, and in another stage, she carries the same human as a fetus in his belly, and when he is born, she hugs him and gives him milk. And she provides for him with all her being and until she spends her childhood and youth, she shows compassion to her as a mother and bears the heavy burden of her upbringing. This is the main duty of a woman, and if a woman leaves this field, while Allah has created a woman based on this nature, and steps into another field, it will be miserable in every sense and the result will be completely opposite.
Employment conditions of Muslim women outside the home
Islam has honored the woman in the best way and allowed her to work in the family and society as a desirable and essential element in building the Muslim family, society and Islamic government.
The religion of Islam has definitely not prohibited the employment of women; Rather, Islam has specified the method and type of work of a woman in a way that is suitable with the nature and nature of the Allah-given woman.
Islam has considered conditions for women to work that preserve the dignity and honor of women, and those conditions include:
Men and women should not be mixed in the workplace; Because the mixing of men and women is harmful to morals and religion.
A woman’s work outside the home must be with the permission and consent of her husband or father or brother or whoever is responsible for that woman.
A woman’s work should be appropriate to her nature and in her size and ability, and she should not do exhausting, hard and tiring work that is not within the woman’s ability.
A woman should work in areas where the society will benefit from her work, For example:
A. In the education of girls, instead of men, women should educate them.
b. In the field of medicine and women’s nursing, so that women are treated by female doctors, not male doctors.
J. Women’s tailoring, so that women do not have to go to men’s tailors to sew their clothes.
d. Her work should not take up most of her time; Rather, she should spend most of her time in housekeeping and taking care of her husband and raising her children.
e. When going to work, do not put on make-up and do not use perfume. Rather, she should wear a long and loose black dress and cover her face.
