One of the ideas presented by LaVey in The Satanic Bible is the “contrast between religion and pleasure.” LaVey adamantly claims: “Anyone who chooses religion and religiosity must abandon pleasure, happiness, and vitality.” He states, “In the real world, we do not encounter a Christian who enjoys life,” and believes that people must choose between religion and pleasure.
This claim by LaVey is entirely contrary to the teachings of Islam. Islam, as a comprehensive and complete religion, addresses both the material and spiritual dimensions of human beings. Interestingly, in the Holy Qur’an, the words dunya (this world) and akhirah (the hereafter) each appear 115 times, which is no coincidence. However, this does not mean that their importance is equal; rather, the hereafter is the ultimate goal. The Qur’an states: “وَابْتَغِ فِيمَا آتَاكَ اللَّهُ الدَّارَ الْآخِرَةَ وَلَا تَنسَ نَصِيبَكَ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا” “And seek, through what Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; but do not forget your share of the world.”
In Islamic teachings, the world is not depicted as dark and bleak, but as radiant and a sign of divine miracles. It is described as the farm for the hereafter and a place for humans to prepare provisions for eternal life. It is essential to note that a significant portion of Islamic rulings addresses worldly needs and lawful physical pleasures such as eating, drinking, resting, marriage, healthy recreation, travel, acquiring clothing, transportation, and housing.
2.7. Committing Immoral Acts Against Human Nature
The practice of indecent and unnatural acts—such as sexual promiscuity, homosexuality, murder, suicide, vampirism, using sorcery, listening to forbidden music, substance abuse, and absolute hedonism—associated with Satanism is in stark opposition to Islamic teachings. In Islam, such acts are considered grave sins that degrade humanity, reducing individuals to a level worse than animals.
Absolute hedonism—pursuing pleasure by any means—is rejected, as it contradicts the purpose of human creation. Not only does it fail to satisfy, but it also increases greed, dissatisfaction, depression, and sorrow. While forbidden physical pleasures may bring temporary joy, they prevent access to superior and eternal joys that pertain to the human soul. Islamic teachings not only encourage lawful physical pleasures, but also emphasize higher spiritual pleasures, such as the joy of knowing and loving God, communion with Him, kindness to others, good character, and suppressing anger.
2.8. Contradictions in Satanic Beliefs and Practices
Satanism contains numerous contradictions, some of which are outlined below:
a) Contradictions in Beliefs
Satanists promote self-worship on the one hand and Satan-worship on the other. While these two ideas may appear harmonious at first glance, they reveal an evident contradiction: the existence of dual deities in their beliefs, which exposes the lack of foundation in their ideology.
b) Human Sacrifice
According to some reports, one of the rituals practiced by Satanists is human sacrifice. These ceremonies, conducted both historically and presently, are reportedly held annually, with a section of the Satanic Bible dedicated to this act. It states: “One of the obligations is to sacrifice and shed blood, as blood symbolizes life and energy. However, the blood must be fresh, and an experienced sorcerer should perform this act. This is the best way to appease the demons. These ritual grants forgiveness to individuals, and this death brings life to others.”
Although LaVey condemned human sacrifice as heinous, he failed to explain why such rituals were annually conducted in the Church of Satan. He dismissed the accusations as enemy propaganda, labeling them as expressions of negative sentiment, yet he never clarified why these rituals were held under his direct supervision.
Since Satanism denies the existence of a single God and the afterlife, each individual is regarded as their own god, prioritizing worldly pleasures and material satisfaction. Consequently, Satanism encourages opposition to divine religions and permits the most vile and reprehensible acts. In contrast, belief in the teachings of divine religions—such as faith in a single God, accountability in the hereafter, and prophetic guidance—curbs corruption and immorality.
Satanism is a false and deviant ideology, fundamentally opposed to divine values and human nature. Its adherents, leaders, and organizations adhere to these beliefs to achieve their destructive and immoral objectives.
