The Biography of the sword of Allah “Khalid bin Walid, MAPH” (Part 33)
A brief introduction of Hormuz (commander of the land of Abla)
Hormuz was one of the warlike and brave commanders of the king of Iran (Ardeshir), who was assigned by him to guard the borders of the Persians and Iranians, in the city of Basra, the region of Abla, in present-day Iraq.
Imam Ibn Kasir, (R.H), writes: “among the foreigners, no one was more hostile to the holy religion of Islam and Arabs than Hormuz “.
He writes in his other book: “This Hormuz that we are discussing is the most evil person in terms of his intentions and inner affairs, he is the most difficult person in terms of disbelief, he was very honorable and popular among Persians and Iranians; as it was a habit among Iranians that any person who his honor and rank increased, as much was added to his ornaments and valuables, so he had a hat whose value reached one hundred thousand dirhams.”
Khalid, (MAPH), sent a letter to Hormuz and other commanders
Imam Tabari, (R.H), writes: Before Khalid left for Iraq, he wrote a threatening letter to Hormuz, the commander of the “Abla” city, with the following content: “Accept Islam so that you will be safe. When this letter of mine reaches you, in response to it, accept your obligation on my behalf and send it again and Pay Jizya, and if you do not do so, then know, I swear by Allah, I will send such an army to fight with you that they love death and martyrdom as much as you love life.”
Imam Zahabi, (R.H), narrates from Abu Wael that he said: ” Hazrat Khalid, (MAPH), wrote a letter to the Persians that surely there is an army with me that likes to be killed in the way of Allah the Exalted, just as you like to drink wine and get drunk from it.”
The enemy became very scared and trembled from this letter, and each of them in every area where they were present started their preparation for war with Khalid. Therefore, all of them wrote a letter to the king of Iran and informed him about the situation that is going on in the land of Ajam Iraq; even he himself was surprised by this and wrote many letters to his commanders in Iraq and taught them a solution.
From these events that took place between Hazrat Khalid, (MAPH), Syedna Abu Bakr, (MAPH), and the kings and commanders of Iran and Iraq, it is clearly understood that at that time, the army of Islam, especially the army of Hazrat Khaled, (MAPH), was strong and awesome; so that no war had yet occurred between the two sides; But all the crown-wearers and throne-sitters of Ajam trembled and feared failure and destruction.
On the other hand, we see that the Muslims at that time had such pride, fear and awe that in their letters to world empires and powers, without any flattery, with threats and aggravation, they warn the arrogant people of the world to stop oppression and Rush to the bosom of kindness and benevolence of Islam.
