The Biography of the sword of Allah “Khalid bin Walid, MAPH” (Part 21)
Hazrat Khalid, (MAPH), in the campaign of Bani Mustalaq
Who were Bani Mustalaq?
Bani Mustalaq is one of the big Arab tribes, which is located in an area near Medina called “Zahran” and it is forty kilometers from Medina to Zahran.
But why are they called Bani Mustalaq? For this reason, they are called Bani Mustalaq, because the lineage of the people of that land reaches a person named Mustalaq ibn Saad ibn Amr. This tribe is one of the big branches of Khaza’ah. The leader of this tribe was a person named Haris ibn Abi Zarrar ibn Habib ibn Aaez Khaza’i All the tribes of Madinah and the tribes of Bani Mustalaq reach a person named Azd Yamani, in this sense, there is a relationship and ethnicity between the people of these two regions.
What was the cause of Bani Mustalaq’s campaign?
Allamah Qaribi writes: The main reason for this campaign was that the chief and spokesman of Bani Mustalaq; Haris Ibn Abi Zarrar prepares an army to attack the city of Madinah. This news reached the Holy Prophet of Islam, he asked his ambassadors in that region for information about the truth of this news, and after collecting the information, they also confirmed this news. When the Holy Prophet, PBUH, was sure of this sinister intention of Bani Mustalaq; he formed an army of Muslims, and along with them he and this beloved wife, Hazrat Umm al-Mu’minin Ayesha Siddiqa, may Allah be pleased with them, also accompanied them. When the Islamic army reached the region of Bani Mustalaq, they attacked its inhabitants and killed countless people and captured some of them.
In another place of his book, Allamah Qaribi writes that one of the important reasons for Bani Mustalaq’s decision to campaign in Medina was that they had well observed that the Muslims were defeated due to disobedience to their Prophet and the polytheists won. Therefore, we also do something to defeat them; But they did not know that Almighty Allah had determined their destiny in a different way and made failure their prey.
When did this battle take place?
Precisely on Monday, the second of the holy month of Sha’ban, in the fifth year of Hijri, the Prophet of Islam, PBUH, moved towards Bani Mustalaq and appointed Hazrat Abu Zar Ghafari, may Allah be pleased with him, as his successor in Madinah. Many people participated in this campaign with the Holy Prophet. There were even a large number of hypocrites who had never gone to Jihad before. It is possible that their purpose of participating in this war was that they saw that the Muslims were winning in the fields of Jihad and brought many booties with them, so we also go and collect booty from there and return.
