Hazrat Firouz Dilami, May Allah Be Pleased with Him (Part 15)
How Long Was the False Prophecy of Aswad Ansi?
The master of historians, Ibn Kathir al- Demashqi (may Allah have mercy on him), writes in his history: “The period of Aswad Ansi’s reign, from the time he appeared and claimed prophethood to the time he was killed, was three months; but it is also stated to be four months. Allah Almighty knows best.”
The news of Aswad’s death coincided with the death of the Holy Prophet. Imam Saif Ibn Umar narrates from his Sheikh “Mustanir,” who recounts through Zahhak from Hazrat Firuz Daylami (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: “We killed Aswad Ansi, and the affairs of the city of Sana’a returned to their original state. However, there was sad news—at that time we did not have an imam or a leader. Therefore, we sent someone to look for Mu’adh Ibn Jabal so that he would come back to Sana’a in Yemen and accept the leadership of our nation. All of us led and were satisfied with his leadership, and he also led us in prayer in Sana’a. I swear by Allah! He had not prayed for more than three days and nights when the news of the death of the Holy Prophet of Islam (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) reached us. After that, all the affairs of the Islamic state of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) fell apart; we denied many things we knew before, and the whole earth (and its people) became anxious and shaken.”
It is clear from this narration that the killing of “Aswad Ansi kazab” took place in the last days of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace).
The news of the death of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) disrupted the entire system of the country. All the people lost their senses, merchants stopped doing business, and devotees stopped worshiping. Government officials turned away from their administrative affairs, and the Mujahideen turned back from going to jihad. At that time, all the people shed tears and regretted the separation from their beloved, imagining a sadness greater than a mountain.
However, Hazrat Siddique Akbar (may Allah be pleased with him) was alert at that moment and did not let the ceaseless efforts of the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) be trampled upon. He took the reins of affairs and rose to face internal and external enemies. He neutralized the seditions that were growing after the death of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and dismantled them all.
Imam Ibn Kathir (may Allah have mercy on him) writes about when the news of the end of Aswad Ansi’s sedition reached Abu Bakr Siddique (may Allah be pleased with him): “At the end of the month of Rabi al-Awwal, after the army of Osama Ibn Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him) was equipped, the news of Ansi’s murder reached Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique (may Allah be pleased with him). After that, no order was issued by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) regarding the interests of the people of Yemen—their unity and cohesion, friendship and affection between them, and their adherence to the holy religion of Islam—because the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had passed away. Therefore, everything that was for the benefit of their religion and the world was issued by the immediate caliph of the Prophet of Islam (Abu Bakr Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him). Subsequently, he sent people to develop that land, arrange the affairs that had been shaken in the land of the Yemenis, and strengthen the control of Muslims over that land, establishing strong and stable pillars of Islam among them. We hope that Almighty Allah will be pleased with all of them.”
It is clear from these discussions that Hazrat Firouz Dilami (may Allah be pleased with him) received privileges from the Holy Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) and held a high position in his eyes. This is a great honor that came to Hazrat Firouz. In fact, each Companion of the Prophet (may Allah bless them and grant them peace) has left exemplary records.
