The new modernists are those who are influenced by Western thoughts, ideas, and beliefs and want to implement them in Islam. Many of these individuals have studied in the West and returned to Islamic countries as representatives of Western ideology.
The new intellectual modernization school is a continuation of the old Ihtizal school of thought, maintaining its principles, methods, ideas, and positions. There is a need for this school to be investigated and evaluated, and its dangers—along with its deviant thoughts and Western plans for the Islamic Ummah—should be expressed.
This group taunts the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and criticizes them, much like their predecessors did.
Allamah Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, states: “The Mu’tazila still consider a group of the Companions and Tabe’een to be immoral and have insulted many of them along with their narrations that contradict their views and demands. They have even excommunicated some of the predecessors and successors for opposing their self-made principles. The slander they cast upon the scholars of the Salaf, and their knowledge is not found among the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama’ah.”
Dr. Mustafa Saba’i, may Allah have mercy on him, says: “Some of the Mu’tazila, like Wasil bin Ata, have been suspicious of the justice of the Companions since the time of sedition; others, like Amr bin Ubaid, are certain of their depravity. Some, like Nizam, have insulted their elders and accused them of lies, ignorance, and hypocrisy. This leads to the rejection of the hadiths that have reached us through these Companions. The system denies the validity of consensus, analogy, and the decisiveness of reports.”
Additionally, the new neo-religionists have spoken against the Salaf Salih, the Companions, Tabe’een, etc., and have accused them of every evil.
