The Roles of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in the Sphere of Civilization (Part 7)
The unity of the Islamic Ummah the most important cause of the civilization and progress of Muslims
Today, our problem is division and disagreement, despite the fact that the Qur’an forbids division: «وَ لا تَکونوا کَالَّذینَ تَفَرَّقوا وَ اختَلَفوا» (“And do not be like those who divide and differ”) and commands unity: «وَ اعتَصِموا بِحَبلِ اللّهِ جَمیعًا وَ لا تَفَرَّقوا». Nevertheless, the Islamic Ummah is divided. There are various opinions, different sects, and diverse tastes; all of this has led to division. While differences exist within Islam, they should not lead to fragmentation. Division means choosing different paths, and these varied perspectives should not deprive us of the great blessing of the unity of the Islamic Ummah. Today, if the Islamic nation—which has a population of nearly two billion and is fragmented in the most important and sensitive geographical areas of the world—were united, the Islamic lands would achieve significantly greater advancements. If this unity is established in any form, the key to solving the problems of the Islamic world will be uncovered, allowing us to effectively address the issues facing the global Muslim community.
We must know that this unity was the manifestation of the beliefs and actions of the believers, which Allah, the Exalted, says:
«أَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ لَوْ أَنْفَقْتَ مَا فِي الْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا مَا أَلَّفْتَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمْ إِنَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ»Translation: “[Allah (S.W.T)] established a bond between their hearts that if you spent everything on earth, you would not be able to create a bond between their hearts, but Allah created a bond between them, because Allah is invincible and wise.”
4. The Functions of the Messenger of Allah, (PBUH) in the field of Drafting the law and its implementation
Before the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, established the laws, he educated the Ummah in such a way that they should confess their crimes without any reason and consider Allah as present and watching everywhere. Accordingly, he spent thirteen years of his da’wah and preaching in “Makkah” for the establishment and foundation of the Islamic system. In this precious stage, the focus of his da’wah was on beliefs, thoughts and feelings, freeing people from the things they were used to. He did not give commands or prohibition; he did not say to fast or not to drink wine, etc. Rather, he used to say: “There is no God but Allah (Say La-Allah-il-Allah, you will be successful.) When people get close to their Allah, they stop idolatry and know that there is a God and that our creation was not useless.
The second stage of civilization, which is the stage of development or legislation or adherence to religious rituals begins and the nation is ordered to pray and fast, and all the rules of the holy religion of Islam are assumed, and these are examples of legislation and its implementation; Because the rulings are not limited to what you do or don’t do; But in case of violation of the rules, it also leads to worldly punishment; Of course, the legislator must have four features: 1. environmental science; 2. full power; 3. perfect mercy; 4. Do not belong to any nation, tribe or territory.
The only possessor of these features can be Allah Almighty and that’s it.
