Getting to know Jesus, peace be upon him
After the events that happened among the people and they saw some signs of divine power, Allah Almighty willed to reveal his will to be a child without a father and that is why He chose Maryam.
He says about this: «إذْ قَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ یا مَرْیمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ یبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِّنْهُ اسْمُهُ الْمَسِیحُ عِیسَى ابْنُ مَرْیمَ وَجِیهًا فِی الدُّنْیا وَالْآخِرَةِ وَمِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِینَ» “When the angels said: O Maryam! Allah gives you the good news with a word from himself, whose name is Jesus, the son of Maryam; While he has dignity in this world and the hereafter and is among the close ones.
Naming Christ to Jesus and the Word
Hazrat Masih (Jesus) and Hazrat Yahya are among the blessed people whose existence, life and death were all signs of divine power, and both of them have the position that their naming was heavenly and from the Lord; Therefore, we see that Allah Almighty has chosen a name for them before their birth; As for our Hazrat Jesus, addressing Hazrat Maryam, he says: «یا مَرْیمُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ یبَشِّرُكِ بِكَلِمَةٍ مِّنْهُ اسْمُهُ الْمَسِیحُ عِیسَى ابْنُ مَرْیمَ»؛ “O Maryam! Allah gives you the good news of a word from himself, whose name is Jesus, the son of Maryam.”
Almighty Allah has mentioned him in the Holy Qur’an in “twenty-two” places with the word (Aisa) Jesus. The word “Aisa” is an Arabic word whose Hebrew origin is “Ieshua” which means lord and master. “Aisa” is derived from “Ais” and because Jesus, peace be upon him, had a reddish white color, he was named with this name; But the principle is to take the word “Aisa” as non-derivative and to take it in the same sense as a man, because talking about its origin and root is useless for us.
The reason for applying the word “Kalimah” to Jesus, peace be upon him
Just as he is called “Masih” and “Jesus”, he is also called “Kalimah”. Allah has called them “the word”; because unlike other human beings without a father, he created him with one word, “کُنْ”, as it is said: this thing is Allah’s “destiny”, that is, it is due to divine destiny.
Also, despite the fact that children are usually attributed to their fathers; But in the previously mentioned verse, Jesus is attributed to his mother to indicate that Jesus was born without a father.
And Allah is able to do this; If he previously gave birth to Adam without a father and mother and to Hawa without a mother; As Allah Almighty says in verse 59 of Surah Al-Imran: «إِنَّ مَثَلَ عِیسَىٰ عِندَ اللَّهِ كَمَثَلِ آدَمَ خَلَقَهُ مِن تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ كُن فَیكُونُ ٥٩». “The example [of creation] of Jesus before Allah is like [the creation of] Adam, who created him from the dust and then said: Come forth!” And he appeared.”
