The biography of Syedna Osman bin Affan “MAPH” (2nd part)
His attributes:
Osman bin Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, was neither tall nor short; rather, he was of medium height, full of hair with a bushy beard. He was one of those people who had a beautiful and handsome face. He was fair-skinned and had a greenish complexion, with thick legs, long arms, and a hairy body.
His ethics:
Although Osman bin Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, was not the richest person in Quraysh; But he was one of the rich people of Quraish. Nevertheless, he was good-natured, to the extent that when mothers wanted to pray for their children, they would say: «أُحِبُّکَ والرَّحمن؛ حُبّ قُرِیشٍ لِعُثمَان»”I swear by the Most Merciful Allah that I love you as the Quraish love Osman.” He was the most popular person in Quraish because of his good morals and pious qualities.
The reason for naming him Zil -Nurin
Hazrat Osman’s first wife, Ruqayyah, may Allah be pleased with her, was the daughter of the Prophet, peace be upon him, when she died, after her, he married another daughter of the Prophet, peace be upon him, Umm Kulsum.
The fact is that the two daughters of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, were married to the two sons of Abu Lahab, and after the mission of the Prophet, PBUH, Abu Lahab rose up to fight against the invitation to the Prophet, and because of the harassment of the Prophet, PBUH, he ordered his two sons to divorce the two daughters of the Prophet.
Two years before his emigration, Osman (RA) married Ruqiya, the daughter of the Prophet (PBUH), and he had a son named Abdullah from her; But Ruqayyah, may Allah be pleased with him, died on the day of the Battle of Badr, after that he married her sister Umm Kulsum, who died in the 9th year of Hijri, for this reason Osman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, was called “Zil -Nurin”; Because he married two daughters of the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
It is said that the Arabs did not see or know such a beloved couple as Ruqiya and Osman.
After the death of Umm Kulsum, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, he married Sakheta, daughter of Ghazwan, Fatima, daughter of Waleed, and Umm al-Banin, daughter of Uyaina bin Hisn.
His last wife was Naela, the daughter of Farafsa, who was a Christian. But before Hazrat Osman had intercourse with her, she became a Muslim.
His children:
They are:
Maryam, Umm Saeed, Ayesha, Umm Amro and Umm Albanin.
The most obvious stages in the life of Osman, may Allah be pleased with him
Osman bin Affan was born six years after Am al-Fil, he emigrated when he was “forty-seven” years old; When he was “seventy” years old, he was pledged for the caliphate and served as caliphate for twelve years, and when he was eighty-two years old, he died, and his martyrdom occurred on the 18th of Zul-Hijja (35 AH).
Converting to Islam:
Osman, may Allah be pleased with him, was a merchant and was engaged in business. After a while of the Prophet’s mission, he dreamed that a herald was calling: Wake up, you sleepers! It is Muhammad who appeared in Mecca. He woke up and did not understand anything from his dream, he went to his aunt who was hiding her Islam and asked her about this dream, she said: Muhammad bin Abdullah was sent by Allah as a prophet, Allah gave him a book that guided people to his guidance.
When he heard this, he went to his close friend Abu Bakr. When he told him the story, Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said: “Your aunt spoke the truth.” Then he added: O Usman! Do you know that in my opinion you are a modest man, and this attribute guides you to Islam?
Osman, may Allah be pleased with him, went to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and approached him, and the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, introduced Islam to him. Osman, may Allah be pleased with him, says: I swear to Allah, I could not wait in front of him. I said: “I testify that there is no God but Allah, with no partner, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger.” He was the eighth person who converted to Islam.
