Selfishness and Arrogance and its consequences on Muslim personality
A Personable Muslim should not be selfish or Arrogance; Because he knows that selfishness is an internal and spiritual abhorrent disease that causes a person’s low importance in the eyes of Allah and people. Dear Islam considers selfishness and pride as a sinister and hateful phenomenon and orders and advises its followers to free themselves from this sinister phenomenon and treat it; Because anyone who is infected with this ugly disease, it is not unlikely that he will suffer a bad fate like the fate of the proud and arrogant people of history.
Arrogant people, with their arrogance and pride, took this world and lost the eternal world; hasn’t Allah, Subhanahu wa Ta’ala, deprived the arrogant and proud from the abode of the hereafter? in this speech, «تِلْکَ الدَّارُ الْآخِرَهُ نَجْعَلُهَا لِلَّذِینَ لَا یُرِیدُونَ عُلُوًّا فِی الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فَسَادًا وَالْعَاقِبَة لِلْمُتَّقِینَ»” (We will grant that house of the hereafter only to those who do not desire arrogance, superiority, corruption, and destruction on earth, and the end of it belongs to the pious.)
The Prophet, PBUH, states in a holy hadith: «قَالَ اللهُ عزّوجل: الْكِبْرِيَاءُ رِدَائِي، وَالْعِزَّةُ إِزَارِي، فَمَنْ نَازَعَنِي وَاحِدًا مِنْهُمَا، أُلْقِهِ فِي النَّارِ »: it means Allah (s.w.t) says: the greatness is mine and the honor is mine, whoever disputes with me in one of these two, I will enter him into the fire.”(the meaning of this verse is that Allah Almighty do not like the Arrogance and selfishness).
The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, did not have any pride and always practiced humility in his life. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, was so humble that he would ride a “donkey and a mule”, even though he was able to ride a horse. In the conquest of Khyber, the Messenger of Allah, PBUH, rode a victorious horse back to Medina, where they were waiting for him. As soon as he arrived, he said: “Where is the mule?!” Out of humility for Allah, he got off his horse and rode a mule.
It is enough to refer to the wise! Every day, if you ride a car, for the sake of Allah, ride a bicycle, motorcycle, or take a taxi or walk, if possible, ride a bus to follow the tradition of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and show humility.
