    Personable Muslim (13th part)
    Individual Consequences of “Lies”
Now, let’s talk about the consequences of lying to know what ugly consequences the strange phenomenon of “lying” will have on humans, especially Muslims:
    1. Deprivation of salvation: a lying person will never be saved and guided; As the Lord of the universe says: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ لا یَهْدی مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٌ کَذَّاب» “Allah does not guide someone who is extravagant and lies a lot.”
    2. Disgracing in the Hereafter (day of judgement): A person who tells lies will be discredited and disgraced on the Day of Judgment: «وَ یَوْمَ الْقِیامَةِ تَرَى الَّذینَ کَذَبُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ وُجُوهُهُمْ مُسْوَدَّةٌ» “And on the Day of Judgment, you will see those who lied against Allah, whose faces are black.”
    3. Lying causes the curse of Allah and the angels: lying causes the curse and wrath of God; as he says: «لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْکاذِبینَ» “God curse the liars!”
    4. Not reaching the rank of the righteous and martyrs: A liar is always considered the most insignificant and empty person in the eyes of Allah and the people, and he can never reach the rank of the righteous and martyrs, because Allah has cursed the liar.
    5. Lies are the source of all sins: as they say: “All evils are kept in a room, and the key is a lie.”
    6. Lies hinder virtue and chivalry: «لایجتمع الکذب والمروءة» ” Lies and chivalry do not go together. “
    7. Poverty and scarcity: as it is clear from the narrations (Hadiths) that lying cause poverty and scarcity.
    8. Loss of shame and modesty: A liar has no modesty, because if he had a little shame from Allah; He does not tell a lie, which is one of the greatest sins.
    9. Forgetfulness: As experience and psychology have proven that liars are forgetful.
It is because of this forgetfulness that, many inconsistent news is spread about them and as a result they are scandalized in private and public eyes.
    10. Blame and regret: «عَاقِبَةُ الْکَذِبِ مَلَامَةٌ وَ نَدَامَة» “Ultimately, lying is blamed and regretted.” because sooner or later, people will realize the liar’s inappropriate behavior and untruthful speech and will recognize him.
    11. The punishment of the hereafter is the end of the liar: the product and end of lying is dishonor and scandal in this world and the next; As the Lord of the universe says: «قدخاب من افتری» “Every liar and slanderer is truly a failure.”
    Social consequences of lying
In addition to the bad effects that lying has on the soul, personality and morality a person, it also has effects and consequences on society and people’s environment, among which the following can be mentioned:
    1. Loss of social value and credit: It has been known and experienced that a person who tells a lot of lies loses his value in the eyes of Allah and people.
    2. Humility and meanness: «ثَمَرَةُ الْکَذِبِ الْمَهَانَةُ فِی الدُّنْیَا» “The product of lies is evil in the world.”
    3. Dishonor: «الْکَذِبُ یُزْرِی بِالْإِنْسَان» “A lie makes a person flawed.”
    4. Disgrace in private and public: «وَ اللَّهُ مُخْرِجٌ ما کُنْتُمْ تَکْتُمُونَ» “And Allah reveals what you were hiding.”
In the end, my advice to all Muslim brothers and sisters is that they once realize their lives and examine their words and actions to see how much honesty they practice in their words and actions; because honesty is a very good, pleasant phenomenon and the cause of happiness in this world and the hereafter, and also Allah and His Messenger love an honest person very much and always praise him. Therefore, let’s be honest; and to distance ourselves from the ominous phenomenon of “lying”; because lying questions the character of a person, especially a Muslim.
