The Middle Ages (5th part)
If we take a quick look at the brilliant history of the Islamic nation, we know that today in the world, Westerners present themselves as the source of civilization and pretend to our ignorant contemporaries that they have provided all the means of human comfort for the world. So we have to look at the history of Europe to see what was the situation of them and the Muslims in this golden age that they call the Dark Age?
The collapse of the Roman Empire in the 5th century shook the social, religious and cultural status of the European society, so that the destruction of the Christian European society led to the emergence of a period called the “Medieval”.
In this period, following the social crises caused by the vacuum of concentrated and powerful political power, the scientific level of the European society declined a lot, and no individual or institution was thinking of expanding or improving it.
In addition, the refusal of the Christian priests to expand the community in the Scientific field to cover up their actions, especially the combination of the religion of Christ with superstitions and the establishment of the apparatus of ” Inquisition Court “, strongly prevented the scientific currents and by this, the European society was led to political, economic and moral collapse.
Finally, despite all the strictures of the Church, several sects were formed in Christianity and in the European society of the Middle Ages, such as “Protestants”, which paved the way for religious reforms and brought Europe into the Renaissance, and in the meantime, some factors in providing these changes were effective, including the contact of European people with the Islamic East through Spain and Sicily, especially after the Crusades. In this article, we will describe the social situation, the inquisition system of the church and its effect on the social and scientific situation of Europe in the middle centuries.
The most important Science that caused serious conflicts between the church and scientists in the new centuries with its findings and caused doubts about the teachings of the church was astronomy; Scientists such as Kepler, Copernicus, and later Galileo in the 14th and 15th centuries with their research in astronomy, reached conclusions that were in conflict with the world that the Church presented to Christians.
Naturally, such scientific findings, which of course had been proposed centuries before by some Greek and Persian scientists, were considered a revolution in view of the prevailing atmosphere in “Middle Ages” Europe, because it gives a strong blow to the worldview of Christian believers regarding the place of man in the universe.
The church did not remain silent in the face of these scientific discoveries, which were in conflict with its teachings, and showed strong reactions to Scientists who presented opinions contrary to the Bible; Because it should be noted that the education system was dominated by the Church for many centuries and was based on the teachings that were born from the thought of priests and popes.
In addition, these teachings were in an aura of sanctity due to being tied to religious beliefs; therefore, questioning this worldview promoted by the Church could question the sanctity of the Church structure.
Perhaps the most famous of these reactions is about “Galileo”, who had to deny his opinion about the earth’s rotation around the sun in the Inquisition Court; But this issue was not limited to one person; For example: the Church believed that the rainbow is a bow in the hands of God, which he uses to take revenge on his servants whenever he wants.
These were the cases that led to the revolution and as a result, the democracy system came into being This is why the “Middle Ages” are called the Dark Ages, this was an example of the ignorance of the European people; Even heaven and hell were sold, and tickets for the elimination of sin were sold. It was Islam and Muslims who taught humanity how to protest and revolution. If humanity does not ignore the truth, it must be said openly that it was Islam that taught civilization and culture to mankind in the world, and today humans live in a civilized life.
Conclusion
Humanity should know that the only ones who brought the message of prosperity and happiness to the people of the world were Muslims; It was Islam which taught humanity to the people of Hijaz to stop burying girls alive and to know that it is an ugly thing. It was Muslims who turned the darkness of Europe into light, the state of Europe was such that poor people were enslaved, but they learned humanity from Muslims.
It was the Muslims who taught the people that protesting against the rulers and giving opinions to the rulers is a good thing; If there was no Muslim civilization, the people of Europe would never have learned that paradise is not sold in the world and the permission to commit sin is not sold and the people of Europe were freed from the slavery of the popes. Of course, this happiness was for the Muslims when Islam was ruling and the rule of Islam was not limited only to the dimension of worship or some practices of the tradition and the implementation of some limits, so that the United Nations would not be upset; Rather, it ruled in all aspects of human life, from domestic and foreign politics, to economics, education, society, etc.
The Islamic state and Muslims did not set anything else as the standard of their actions except the divine law and the pleasure of Allah, the Merciful, and the satisfaction of Allah Almighty was their only ultimate goal. That is why the first word was from Muslims, civilization was from Muslims, invention and discovery were from Muslims, But since the day when Muslims distanced themselves from their origin, which is Islam, and instead of the pleasure of Allah, they chose the satisfaction of global disbelief and the criterion of their actions was material benefit and the systems that were based on the Western system, They didn’t see another happy day on this earth, how long it would take to achieve Civilization, Growth and Excellence.
It is necessary for the Islamic Ummah to return to its principle, which is the political unity and sovereignty of Islam ” Ruling by what Allah (s.w.t) revealed ” and accepting the principle of monotheism, so that the lost dignity of Muslims can be regained in the world. May they have a life full of comfort and peace, and in the hereafter, heaven will be their eternal place and abode.
