Biography of the sword of Allah “Khalid bin Walid” MAPH (1st part)
Keywords of this topic: Khalid, Asma, Waleed Bani Makhzoum and Mughira.
Hazrat “Khalid bin Walid may Allah be pleased with him, is a personality that history has never brought his equal, to the extent that Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddique said in his description: «عَجَزتِ النساءُ أن یَلِدنَ مثلَ خالد. » (All the women in the world have been unable to give birth to the man like Khalid.); Therefore, it demands that the Islamic community introduce this rare and precious gem to the world and take the medal of honor from it.
Who is Khalid? What family is he from? When did he open his blessed eyes to this world? What were the causes and factors of the development of his character? When did he convert to Islam and what achievements did he leave behind? And dozens of other questions…
I have divided the themes and contents of this topic into different parts just for the convenience of dear readers; Therefore, now I am exposing the first part of this topic, which shows his name, lineage, family and tribe, to study and research.
    Khalid’s name and lineage
His name is Khalid, his father’s name is Walid, his grandfather’s name is Mughirah, and his grandfather’s name is Abdullah. His lineage goes back to Makhzoum bin Marah – one of the most important and large Arab tribes.
He is related to the great Prophet of Islam, his nickname is Abu Suliman, his 2nd nickname is Saifullah, and his mother’s name is Asma Bint Harith.
    His Happy birth
In relation to the exact date of birth of Hazrat Khalid, MAPH, historians and biographers have made endless efforts and researched all historical books and works. But they have not found any clarification about this, the only thing they have found is that his life span was about “twenty-seven” years at the time of the advent of Islam, and according to everyone, he died in the “21st” year of Hijri.
Therefore, analyzing, we come to the conclusion that His blessed life was “twenty-seven” years before Islam, and the other thirteen years were in Mecca (the years of the Ba’ath), and He lived for twenty-one years after the emigration. Therefore, his whole life was sixty to sixty-one years.
The clan and tribe of Khalid, may Allah be pleased with him
Hazrat Khaled bin Walid is associated with the honorable tribe of “Bani Makhzoum”, among the Arabs of Hejaz land and especially the city of Makkah, there were two tribes that had great honor and dignity, one of them is Bani Hashem and the other is Bani Makhzoum, and both of them are from the famous Quraysh tribe, to the extent that they were in conflict with Bani Hashim in many cases, as the shining sun of Prophethood, its rays illuminated the dark sky and Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) was sent by Allah as a Prophet, at the beginning of the Prophethood,, the Bani Makhzoum tribe heard that this prophet was sent from the tribe and family of Bani Hashim. They immediately started protesting and said why such a prophet was not sent from Bani Makhzoum tribe?! This is an indication that this tribe has taken a high position and is competing with a tribe like Bani Hashem.
The highest honor and virtue that has been given to this tribe is that the great leader of humanity, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was their son-in-law, as he (PBUH) married Hind bint Abu Amiya, and he gave her the honor of “Umm al-Mu ‘Minin” and we now know her as Umm Salama (RA).
The noble family of Khalid, may Allah be pleased with him
As we mentioned earlier, he is from the great tribe of Quraysh and from the famous tribe of “Bani Makhzoum”, his family shines more than other families in this tribe. Even though each one of them had a high position and position among the Arabs, if we want to research the life of each one of them, the discussion will drag on for a long time and it will take us away from the main destination and basic goal; Therefore, I will only mention their names and duties.
Walid bin Mughirah, father of Khaled
His father’s name is Walid bin Mughira Makhzoumi, nicknamed Abu Abd al-Shams, he was known among the Quraish tribe as Rihani of the Quraish and their generous man. During the Hajj season, no one had the courage to light a fire and prepare food for the pilgrims; Rather, he alone took charge of all the expenses of the pilgrims; But in addition to all these advantages and virtues he had, he was very prejudiced towards his Jahili religion and was one of the staunch and hard-hearted enemies of Islam, and he was always in conflict and enmity with the Holy Prophet of Islam.
Walid bin Mughirah was one of the great and influential leaders of Mecca, the infidels and polytheists inflicted many blows on Muslims through him. They even say that if he had accepted Islam, all the people of Quraish would have accepted it. Finally, Walid Ibn Mughirah died in the first year of Hijrah at the age of sixty-five and was buried in Mecca.
He had honorable brothers, some of whom can be named as acquaintances:
Abu Umayyah bin Mughirah, known as Zadd al-Rakib means the owner of the planet of travel, anyone who traveled with him didn’t need to spend his money.
Fakeh bin Mughirah, he built a guest house and gave food to any person for free without invitation and was generous.
Abu Hanifa bin Mughira, before the advent of Islam, when the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, placed the (Hajaral Aswad) Black Stone in a tent and ordered the elders of each tribe to take a corner of the tent so that they could have the honor of lifting this sacred stone, he was from the Bani Makhzoum tribe. who took the corner of the tent and together with others lifted the “black stone”.
Hisham Ibn Mughirah, he was one of the elders of Bani Makhzoum, his nickname was Shahswar Batha, he was very popular among the people, as his death was considered a huge disaster, and they closed the Mecca market for three days.
    Asma bint Haris, Khalid’s mother
She is known as “Lababa Sughri”, Imam Ibn Hajar Asqalani, may Allah have mercy on him, in his valuable book called«الإصابة في معرفة الصحابة» He has been mentioned her as one of the beloved Companions of Prophit, may Allah be pleased with him.
She and his sisters had distinctive characteristics and each of them were the wives of the chiefs and elders of the tribe, as she had eight sisters whose names are mentioned in order.
    1. Hazrat Umm al-Mu ‘Minin, Maimuna bint Haris, the wife of the Holy Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
    2. Hazrat Umm al-Fazl, Lababah Kubra bint Haris, wife of Hazrat Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him.
    3. Asma bint Haris, the wife of one of the generals of Quraish named Abi ibn Khalaf.
    4. Ghara bint Haris, wife of Ziyad ibn Abdullah Hilali.
    5. Harila bint Haris, the wife of an Arab person.
    6. Asma bint Haris, the wife of Hazrat Jafar ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him.
    7. Salma bint Haris, wife of Hazrat Hamza, may Allah be pleased with him.
    8. Salamah bint Haris, the wife of Hazrat Abdullah ibn Ka’b ibn Manbah, may Allah be pleased with him.
From the above article, it is clear that Hazrat Khalid, from his mother’s side, is very close to the Holy Prophet and is among the people who frequent the Prophet’s house.
    Brothers of Hazrat Khalid
Historians have different opinions about the brothers and sisters of Khalid, may Allah be pleased with him, as some of them say that they were thirteen brothers and sisters, six of them were brothers, briefly, each of them had special morals and privileges, so I will only mention his brothers.
    1. Aas bin Waleed, he died before the advent of Islam.
    2. Abu Qais, he first became a Muslim and then became an apostate and was killed in the battle of Badr by Hazrat Hamzah.
    3. Abd al-Shams bin Walid, as his father’s nickname is the name of his son.
    4. Amara bin Walid, he was known as the most handsome young man of Quraish.
    5. Walid bin Walid, he became a Muslim before the Hijra and immigrated to Medina.
    6. Hisham bin Waleed, he also became a Muslim and was initially considered as one of the first among the group of “Al-Musafah Al-Qulub”.
    Hazrat Khalid’s sisters
He had two sisters, one named Fatima, who converted to Islam on the day of the conquest of Makkah, and the other named Fakhte, who converted to Islam almost a month before Hazrat Khalid and was the wife of Safwan ibn Umayyah.
