    Satanism (part 27)
    Obvious signs
    Difference and distinction in appearance, which expresses opposition to others, is among the matters that Satanists strongly emphasize. By introducing certain changes to the human form and body, and by choosing specific types of clothing, Satanists display this difference.
    Making changes to the body
    This sect, in order to resemble Satan, emphasizes shaving the hair of the head and beard and other changes as follows: [1]
    a) Shaving the hair of the head and inserting metal or plastic pieces under the skin;
    b) Altering facial volume and piercing the ears and nose and inserting metal or plastic pieces into them;
    c) Using horned and frightening masks and applying strange colors to the face and head;
    d) Creating gaps between the teeth and using artificial teeth with long fangs;
    e) Spraying acid on the face and head to create various bodily changes;
    f) Tattooing the body, especially the hands and face, feet, and neck.
    These practices indicate that Satanists gradually follow Satan step by step—Satan who is the sworn enemy of humankind and has a program to mislead them.
    The Noble Quran states this reality as follows: “لَّعَنَهُ اللَّهُ وَقَالَ لَأَتَّخِذَنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِكَ نَصِيبًا مَّفْرُوضًا * وَلَأُضِلَّنَّهُمْ وَلَأُمَنِّيَنَّهُمْ وَلَآمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُبَتِّكُنَّ آذَانَ الْأَنْعَامِ وَلَآمُرَنَّهُمْ فَلَيُغَيِّرُنَّ خَلْقَ اللَّهِ ۚ وَمَن يَتَّخِذِ الشَّيْطَانَ وَلِيًّا مِّن دُونِ اللَّهِ فَقَدْ خَسِرَ خُسْرَانًا مُّبِينًا” Translation: “Allah has cursed him, and he said: ‘I will surely take from Your servants an appointed share. And I will surely mislead them, and arouse desires in them, and command them so they will slit the ears of cattle, and command them so they will change the creation of Allah.’ And whoever takes Satan as a guardian instead of Allah has certainly incurred a manifest loss.”[2]
    Difference in type of clothing
    Satanists differ in their type of clothing for three main reasons:
    1. To recognize one another;
    2. Opposition to the accepted values, culture, and customs of society;
    3. Attracting young people.
    The most prominent signs of these differences are seen in the following matters:
    a) Clothing:
    This sect tends mostly toward revealing clothing with strange and flashy colors; however, they consider black to be the most beloved color of clothing and pay special attention to it when choosing what to wear. They constantly try to select styles of dress that break taboos and cause astonishment among people when seen. For this reason, they are more inclined toward clothes that are torn in parts and expose the body. [3]
    This group always wears clothing with images and mostly uses pictures that are somehow connected to their beliefs, such as images of skulls, ram heads, symbols of death, or signs related to sexual stimulation and encouragement toward vices. [4]
    As mentioned earlier, Satanists make extensive use of the color black. They explain this for the following reasons:
    1. During special Satanist rituals, wearing black clothing is necessary; therefore, black is considered a distinctive color;
    2. Black color and darkness are associated with evil and death, and Satan is regarded as their messenger;
    3. Satan loves the color black;
    4. Satan is the “commander of darkness”; therefore, this color is a satanic color;
    5. White is the color of religions; therefore, in order to oppose other religions, the opposite color(black) must be used.[5]
    b) Neglect of outward cleanliness:
    Satanists seek closeness to Satan by drinking their own blood and urine and rubbing it on their hands.
    According to this group, by living amid various forms of filth and outward impurities, a person can draw closer to Satan. For this reason, in their rituals they engage in licking one another’s filth. [6]
    These actions of the Satanists indicate their expression of opposition to religion and their departure from all Islamic and human values.
    c) Wearing bracelets, earrings, and necklaces:
    The members of this sect, both men and women, all show a particular interest in wearing bracelets, earrings, and necklaces.
    For this reason, it is rare to find a Satanist who does not wear an earring, bracelet, or necklace. It should be noted that these earrings and necklaces contain special symbols and signs of this sect, which, unfortunately, have widely entered the markets of Islamic countries and have attracted the attention of unaware girls and boys. [7]
    d) Resembling the opposite sex:
    In Satanism, resemblance of men to women and, conversely, women to men holds a special status. Men grow long hair to resemble women, and women shave or cut their hair short to appear like men. Wearing bracelets and earrings is very important for male Satanists, especially when they bear Satanist symbols. [8]
    e) Hand and finger gestures:
    Satanists use hand and finger gestures for greeting and exchanging pleasantries in ways that are connected to their beliefs and ideas. These gestures are mostly seen in three forms:
    1. Keeping the little finger and the index finger open, while closing the thumb together with the two middle fingers in such a way that the thumb is placed underneath them.
    2. Keeping the little finger and the index finger open, while closing the thumb and the two middle fingers in such a way that the thumb is placed above them.
    3. Keeping the little finger and the thumb open and closing the three middle fingers in a way that displays the horn sign.[9]
