Crises of Liberalism in the Contemporary World (Part 20)
Secularism, the mother (basis) philosophy of liberalism
A complete and disciplined understanding of beliefs and ideas cannot be achieved, and the possibility of their correct discussion and examination cannot be provided, except by understanding their principles and foundations. When Allah Almighty calls human and reveals his truth and changes, he returns him to his origin so that he can find out his price and truth: “هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ مِنْ تُرَابٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٍ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلًا ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوا أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُوا شُيُوخًا وَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يُتَوَفَّى مِنْ قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوا أَجَلًا مُسَمًّى وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ (۶۷)” Translation: “He it is Who created you from dust, then from a drop of sperm, then from a clot of blood, then He brings you forth as a child, until you attain your full strength and become old. And among you is he who finds death before time, until you reach an appointed term, and perhaps he will reflect.” [1]
Translation: “And Allah created you, then He takes your (life) and some of you are brought back to the lowest (period) of the years of life (very old) so that after knowing, they do not know anything. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Powerful.” [2]
And again, he says: “مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَاكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا تُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً أُخْرَى” Translation: “From it We created you, and to it We will return you, and from it We will bring you out again.” [3]
Secularism is the philosophical basis of liberalism, and it can be said that secularism is a bridge over which other rationalist ideas (even Marxism) cross; therefore, every Marxist is necessarily secular. In other words, liberalism is one of the manifestations of the implementation of secularism, and secularism is the philosophy behind all systems that separate religion from the world; systems that remove religion from the world of people or declare it abolished altogether.
The Church has divided people into two groups since its formation:
The first group: Eclerus, or priests or religious men who are the link and intermediary between the servant and the Lord. The priest is the one who hears the confession of the people and the Christian person must be in contact with him throughout his life. Because the principle regarding every newborn who is born is that until he is baptized by a priest, he is not acknowledged as a Christian and his marriage is not accepted; except through the priest. If he commits a sin, he must confess all his sins to the priest in order to be forgiven and receive a certificate of forgiveness of sins. At the time of death, the same priest performs the burial ceremony and other matters, otherwise he has not died in the Christian religion.
None of these cases exist in Islam, there is no one between the servant and his Lord, and any intermediary in worship is polytheism and disbelief; Like worshipping idols and elders, and even prophets and angels who are close to Allah: «وَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلَّا ليعْبُدُوا الله مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ» Translation: “And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, making their religion sincere to Him.” (Al-Bayenah: 5)
A Muslim marriage is only concluded in the presence of two just Muslim witnesses, even if those two witnesses are grocers or butchers. Nothing can make it valid or invalid except the decree of Allah, and only confession between him and his Lord is sufficient for repentance from sin. Expressing sin without reason is another sin in itself, as stated in the hadith: “All of my Ummah are exempted, except those who make their sins public.”
The entire earth has been made a mosque and a sanctuary for him, so that he may perform his prayer wherever he wishes. It is permissible for a Muslim’s dead body to be washed, buried, and prayed over by any Muslim whose prayer is valid. This is the pinnacle of freedom for minds and bodies from all slavery and humiliation, except for the one Creator.
The second group: Those who are not included in the first group, that is, the general public, all those who are not from the first group; it makes no difference what their name, social value, and profession are, whether they are ignorant or educated, poor or rich. In general, all those who do not have a direct relationship with their Lord. This philosophical concept for dividing Western society from the earliest ages was the same basis on which contemporary Western life grew, and the media and military power of the West caused this same philosophy to enter Eastern life to the point where no society in the East has been spared from its influence, so that anyone who looks at the Westernized people attributed to Islam will see that they raise these same concepts in opposition to Islam without seeing the difference between the two or knowing the truth of Islam. While most of them are unaware of the truth of Islam or are people of desire and intend to break away from the rules of this religion; As a result, they claim that their problem is with the “religious men” and not with religious concepts and texts, while such a concept of “religious men” does not exist in Islam. We do not have religious men who are opposed by worldly men. There are scholars and jurists who convey the truth to people as the Prophet (peace be upon him) conveyed it to them. They neither baptize people nor do they confess to them. They are not monastics and do not avoid people. They marry, buy and sell, and work like people. However, they are the heirs (of knowledge) of the Prophets (peace be upon them) and bearers of the Sharia, not bringing anything from themselves. They stand against and block the way to any incorrect understanding that is covered in doubt and lust.
It Is narrated in a hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon them) said: “This knowledge is carried by trustworthy people from every generation, who remove from it the distortion of the exaggerators, the false claims of the speakers, and the interpretations of the ignorant.”
The scholar guides others, and the one who does not know asks for his needs (in any field, from those knowledgeable in that field), like the patient with the doctor; because although the human intellect is capable of learning every knowledge, its owner does not have enough life and time to learn everything he needs, which is why Imam Shafe’i (may Allah bless him) said: “It is not right for a person to live in a land unless there is a doctor in it who can inform him about the affairs of his body and a scholar who can inform him about the affairs of his religion.” Since the issue of medicine is related to human life and survival, he pays attention to it and even if a theory in medicine is wrong and an illusion, he still spends his money and time on it. However, the connection of the hereafter to matter, like the connection of medicine, is not obvious and clear to the heedless intellect. Therefore, human forgets it and may even consider it an illusion and fight against it. Here, human forgets that he has wasted half of his wealth on the illusion of matter.
