The Significance and Esteemed Position of Youth in Society (Part Four)
The progress of a nation depends on its youth
It is well known that youth are the backbone of societies, as the order of societies depends on them; no matter what they desire, the direction of society will turn in that direction. It is also these youth who act as the labor force that drives the big machines of companies. Throughout history, various schools of thought and foundations have exploited the power of youth by designing traps to achieve their goals, often at the cost of their well-being. This is especially evident in capitalist ideology, which, since its inception, has engaged youth in drugs, pornography, gambling, homosexuality, drinking, and hedonism to achieve its malign objectives, effectively breaking the backbone of society.
It is clear that without undermining the younger generation of a nation, its true values cannot be trampled. For this reason, we observe that in the ideology of capitalism—an ideology rooted in individual benefit—the largest capitalists swallow their smaller competitors. In fact, it is these major capitalists who wield dominance and power, with governments often acting in their favor. They will implement any method that is more beneficial, even if it harms the working and young generations of their own countries, let alone others whom they view as mere fuels for their profit-driven endeavors.
Afghanistan is the last country where the capitalist system opened its doors in 2001. To implement its programs on every stratum of Afghan society—including teenagers, young people, boys and girls, and men and women—it devised a plan to draw them into its colonial programs to exploit this generation, just as it had done to other societies previously. While the people of Afghanistan are traditional, loyal to their culture and values, they are also skeptical of occupation. They are defenders of Islam and faith and have consistently demonstrated their sentiments during various periods of foreign occupation.
There is no doubt that the young generation is one of the most potent and influential elements in society. By properly utilizing this powerful and capable group and directing them towards noble goals, significant achievements can be made.
Considering the historical legacy of Muslims, one can see that Muslim youth, driven by a belief and goal, with great and tireless efforts under the banner of Islam, have managed to dismantle corrupt and tyrannical systems, paving the way for guidance, happiness, security, and justice for the people of the world. Indeed, the history of the Islamic Ummah is full of events and facts, most of which are achievements related to the young generation, whose sole objective was the establishment of law on earth and the attainment of Allah Almighty’s pleasure.
The sacrifices and dedication of these youths for the rule of Islam and the elimination of any man-made systems from people’s lives reflect their profound Islamic thoughts and beliefs. These beliefs have facilitated a healthy movement toward achieving sound goals.
However, with the decline of Islamic thoughts and values from society and the infiltration of secular Western ideologies into Islamic lands, the resulting corruption under foreign systems and ideas has cast a shadow over all influential elements in Islamic societies. Among these, the young Muslim demographic has not been spared, often being used as tools of such ideologies. There is no doubt that if Muslims do not awaken from their deep slumber with a fundamental resolve and a sense of obligation, this undesirable situation will persist in Islamic lands for decades to come.
