Some men may become reluctant to enjoy legitimate pleasures within the family due to easy access to women who are not wearing a hijab outside the family. This situation can lead to an increase in the number of self-supervising and morally questionable women. Not wearing a hijab restricts women’s freedom and desirable social participation and deprives society of their constructive and healthy activities. The absence of hijab and self-grooming creates a foundation for insecurity and societal violence, including rape and abuse against women, leading to waste of life, capital, and the talents of both men and women. Furthermore, not wearing a hijab is a form of mockery of those who do wear it. It can stimulate viewers’ feelings and create psychological excitement, which, according to psychologists, disrupts mental health and can lead to various physical and mental illnesses. Other effects of not wearing a hijab include increased prostitution, rising divorce rates, lack of security, the collapse of family structures and love within them, moral decline, and the devaluation of women. These problems manifest tangibly in societies where the hijab is not worn.
2. Collapse of Social Morality
Not wearing a hijab can lead to numerous moral ailments such as pride, arrogance, boasting, and a cruelty of the heart.
3. Women as Commodities
Women can become reduced to mere mannequins behind windows, serving to sell capitalist products. Unveiled women may unwittingly act as executors of the enemy’s plans, becoming cultural soldiers for the West and pawns for evildoers and deceivers.
4. Disregard for Marriage Among the Youth
The young generation’s disregard for marriage can be attributed to the fact that visual and sexual pleasures are increasingly sought outside the family unit.
5. Premature Puberty and Sexual Disorders
The lack of veiling can cause premature puberty in adolescents and foster an environment ripe for sexual disorders in society.
6. Destruction of Talents
Individuals who do not wear veils may squander their talents by relying on their external beauty to attract attention from immoral individuals in society.
7. Effects in the Hereafter
There are numerous narrations and hadiths regarding the consequences of not wearing a hijab in the hereafter. Here, we will provide one example:
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “There are two groups of people in the Fire [Hell] whom I have not seen: a people who have whips like the tails of cows with which they beat people; and there are women who are covered but, in reality, are naked. They incline towards men and entice them towards themselves. Their heads are like the humps of camels. They will not enter Paradise and will not smell its fragrance, although its fragrance can be felt from a distance of 500 years.”
In another narration from Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), it is narrated that she said: “I was with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), and Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) was also present. Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum came to the gathering at a time when we had been ordered to wear the hijab. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: ‘Keep your hijab.’ We said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, he is blind; he neither sees us nor recognizes us.’ The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) replied: ‘Are you two blinds? Do you not see him?’”
