Governments’ Helplessness in the Face of Rising Violence Against Women
Governments remain helpless in addressing the rising number of female victims subjected to violence and abuse. The magazine Al-Alam Al-Diplomacy, in its October 2004 issue, published the following painful statistics about women:
– In Germany, three women are murdered every four days.
– In the United Kingdom, one woman is killed every three days.
– In France, one woman is murdered every five days—an average of six deaths per month.
– In Spain, incidents of domestic violence against women occur every four days.
A summary from Amnesty International indicates that today’s battle is about defining boundaries to curb violence against women. Domestic violence victims in Europe constitute 6% of women, resulting in an average of two women losing their lives every day due to this plague.
In the United States, 1,900 young girls are raped daily, with 20% of these cases involving their fathers. Annually, one million children are intentionally aborted in the U.S., and in the U.K., 170 young girls become pregnant out of wedlock each week.
According to 2003 statistics, in Spain, one woman was murdered by her husband every five days in 2000. In the U.K., two women are killed weekly by their spouses.
These terrifying statistics about women in the West are so alarming that even children might age prematurely from fear. So, where are their accusations against Islam, which they claim permits physical punishment of women?
Why do they turn a blind eye to these truths and figures? Are their hearts locked, preventing them from seeing the stark reality? They ignore these atrocities, hiding them beneath layers of hatred and envy toward Islam. These statistics themselves reveal that, despite its outward glamour and shine, the foundation of Western society is deeply corrupted and decayed.
Violence Against Women During Wars
Violence against women during wars has become a severe epidemic. Often, mass rapes are systematically carried out with such intensity that traditional weapons become unnecessary.
According to Human Rights Watch, during the 2003 Iraq War and its aftermath, 4% of women and girls were sexually assaulted, with some victims as young as eight years old.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, during five months of conflict in 1992, 20,000 to 50,000 women were raped.
Amnesty International reported that in 1992, in certain villages in Kosovo, 30% to 50% of women were raped and impregnated by Serbian forces.
Who perpetrates these atrocities? Is it not the so-called civilized Europeans who commit these acts? These are the same people who advocate for women’s freedom and rights. Have all these atrocities not unfolded before the eyes and ears of the so-called civilized world?
Where are the women’s rights that the West champions? Where is their so-called freedom? Where is women’s dignity? Beyond this, they expect Muslim women to abandon their values and adopt their lifestyle—becoming unveiled, adorned, and shameless, selling alcohol, or sunbathing naked on beaches. Their intellectuals openly state: “The easiest way to dominate societies is to corrupt their women and give them unchecked freedom.”
Recent British studies reveal that 37% of women face violence at the hands of their husbands or partners. In France, reports indicate that over one million women experience abuse annually.
