3. Satanic Temples, Churches, and Monasteries:
During its life and activities, the Satanic sect has established monasteries, churches, and temples to promote and spread Satanic beliefs and rituals. Among these places are the following: a) Thelma Monastery
In 1920, Aleister Crowley founded a temple called “Thelma Monastery” on the island of Cefalu, Sicily, located in Italy, and gathered many followers around him. b) The Church of Satan
Antoine Lavey announced the establishment of the Church of Satan on Saturday, April 30, 1966. On this day, LaVey called himself “Archbishop of the Church of Satan” and announced that a new era had begun. He designated his house in San Francisco as the Church of Satan and painted the exterior of his house black. This led Satanists to later refer to this house as the “Black House”. Each room in the Black House was designed with a specific color and a different appearance. In addition, the keeping of an African lion in this house added to its unusualness.
In 1967, LaVey performed a satanic baptism for his 4-year-old daughter “Zina” in the Church of Satan. On February 1 of that year, he held the wedding ceremony of “John Raymond” (American journalist) and his wife in the Church of Satan with the presence of prominent guests such as “Joe Rosenthal” (famous American photographer). After a while, he also held the funeral ceremony of a member of the Church of Satan named “Edward Olson” in the style of the Church of Satan.
In the Church of Satan, hedonistic philosophy is mixed with the practices of black magic. This church promotes Satan as a symbol of opposition and defiance to a submissive and God-fearing society and makes extensive use of spiritual rituals and symbols in its ceremonies.
Three types of witchcraft rituals are used in this church: 1– Sexual rituals to achieve physical intoxication. 2– Heart-softening rituals to create feelings of love and affection for others. 3 – Destructive rituals to get rid of anger and hatred. c) Temple of Set
The “Temple of Set” was founded by “Michael Aquino”. He was a US Army intelligence officer who joined the Satanism sect in the early years of the establishment of the Church of Satan. Aquino quickly attained various degrees of the Church of Satan and was a member of the nine-member Council of the Church of Satan for 5 years. Between 1971 and 1975, he worked as the editor of the magazine “Cloven Hoof” (the first official magazine of the Church of Satan). In 1975, he left the Church of Satan due to a disagreement with the Church of Satan officials (especially Antoine Lavey) over the collection of membership fees from members (and in Aquino’s words: selling the ranks of the Church of Satan). At the same time as his resignation, a number of other members of the Church of Satan of various ranks also left the Church of Satan and joined Michael Aquino. In the same year, he established a “Sect of Satanism” and for this purpose, he set up a centre called the “Temple of Set” in San Francisco. Individuals do not pay membership fees to join this sect, but they can donate an amount to help the temple as they wish. The Temple of Set is a secret and feared organization that considers itself the leader of the global Satanist movement and seeks to prepare the world for the establishment of Satan’s rule. To achieve its goal, this organization, in addition to holding satanic rituals and promoting them through cinema and music, creates a space for studies and research in the field of past civilizations, myths, and Satanism, and grants degrees and medals to researchers in order to gradually organize its forces for the global Satanic movement.
