Consequences of Cultural Invasion
2. Changing Values
Another consequence of cultural invasion is the transformation of values and the substitution of false and corrupt values for true ones. Cultural invaders try to redirect society towards their goals by altering the true values of society and promoting their desired false values, thus diverting society members from the path of truth. This is why God Almighty has warned believers in the Holy Quran on several occasions that Satan, disbelievers, and opponents attempt to change values by beautifying false and corrupt values in society. The Holy Quran considers the reason for some disbelievers’ lack of guidance to be the change and displacement of values and the beautification of ugly deeds in their eyes. In this regard, it says: «وَ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ الشَّيْطانُ أَعْمَالَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَن السَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لا يَهْتَدُون؛ و شیطان اعمالشان را در نظرشان زینت داده آنها را از راه بازداشته و آنها هدایت نخواهند شد.» (نمل: ۲۴) This verse, among others repeated several times in the Holy Quran in various forms, suggests that changing values at the societal level and promoting and replacing false values in society will redirect society and lead individuals away from the path of truth. The most important tool for changing values and promoting corrupt ones is the media, which plays an irreplaceable role in this process.
3. Changing Lifestyle
Another consequence of cultural invasion is the alteration of lifestyles. Cultural invaders aim to change the value-oriented lifestyle of the targeted society through the media and replace it with a valueless and deviant lifestyle. Changing the value-oriented lifestyle of society and promoting a valueless lifestyle, which is the intention of cultural invaders, will weaken true values, alter normative behaviors, and ultimately cause individuals in society to deviate from the path of truth. Today, the widespread propaganda of a valueless lifestyle and the promotion of fashion, consumerism, luxury, lust, alcoholism, apathy, avoiding the veil, and companionship with animals by Western media aim to change the lifestyle of society and divert them from the path of happiness.
