The Position of Women in Islam (Part 49)
The Conspiracies of the Enemies of Islam
The religion of Islam has preserved the honor and dignity of women and placed them in their true position. When the enemies of Islam observed the high position of women in Islam, they realized the honor and respect that Islam has given to women. Orientalists and their students, who had no knowledge of religious sciences and knowledge, started to attribute all kinds of slander and baseless lies to Islam in this regard. They claimed that Islam has oppressed women, that the Quran does not pay special attention to women, and that Islam has not divided the rights of men and women equally. They pointed out that Islam considers women to be half of men in some cases, such as accepting testimony and dividing inheritance, that Islam allows a man to marry four women at the same time while never allowing a woman to marry more than one man at a time, among other claims made by orientalists.
The first person to raise the banner of this call and take responsibility for spreading this great sedition was Qasem Amin, a young Egyptian who was selected by the West for his extraordinary intelligence and academic excellence and was sent to France to continue his university studies and obtain higher degrees. Upon his return, he became one of the important tools for the destruction of Islamic society and a propaganda trumpet for the West, serving his Crusader and Jewish masters and lords.
Upon his return from France, he published his first book, entitled “The Liberation of Women,” and then his second book, entitled “The New Woman,” presenting them to Egyptian society. Gradually, Egyptian society came under the influence of Qasem Amin’s thoughts, and his ideas found supporters among the people.
The first person to respond positively to Qasem Amin’s call was a woman named Huda Al-Shahrawi. She abandoned all Islamic values and Arab traditions, trampled on the honor and dignity of Muslim women, traveled alone without a mahram, accompanied foreign men, and attended meetings and seminars where men and women mixed without a veil.
However, despite the false preachers shouting, the liars lying, and the slanderers slandering, women have never been oppressed or deprived in Islam to warrant anyone rushing to help them. There are no forgotten cases for anyone to defend today. There is no example in Islam of the oppression, humiliation, and exploitation that women endured during the era of ignorance or that contemporary women endure today.
