The Importance of Security in Islam (The 26th and Final Part)
Two Major Threats to Global Security
A. Terrorism
Terrorism is one of the most serious threats to national and international security. It refers to the use of violence and terror as a means to achieve political or ideological goals. In addition to directly threatening security, this sinister phenomenon also has widespread psychological and social impacts.
B. Crime and Public Safety
The spread of crime in society is another major threat to security. Several factors can contribute to this spread, including poverty, destitution, and a decline in spiritual values within society. These crimes harm individuals and contribute to the collapse of the moral and social foundations of the community.
Losses and Damages Resulting from the Lack of Security in Society
The lack of security has various consequences and damages, some of which directly affect public safety. The following briefly discusses these harms:
– Family Issues: Family disputes, divorce, and the emergence of runaway and street children.
– Normative Disruption: Disruption of order and violation of social norms.
– Fragmentation of Religious Discourse: When there is no security and peace, numerous sects can form, each following its own path based on individual perspectives. This causes intellectual fragmentation and diverse tendencies.
– Identity Crisis among Youth and Adolescents.
– Increase in Criminal and Delinquent Gangs.
– Prevalence of Firearms: Both legal and illegal firearms in society.
– Increased Desire to Emigrate: Including illegal immigration and overall immigration rates.
– Growth of Unemployment in Society.
– Gap between Ideals and Reality: The discrepancy between societal ideals and the current state of society.
– Decrease in Happiness and Well-being: A decline in the overall sense of happiness and well-being in society.
– Increase in Social Conflicts: Heightened conflicts and contradictions, both ethnic and regional.
– Rising Rates of Violent Crimes: Including murder, robbery, armed robbery, trespassing, and violations of individuals’ rights.
Each of these factors can inflict serious harm and lead to profound consequences for society. In certain circumstances, these harms may result in a significant crisis and a devastating tragedy that could push society toward decline and collapse. Societies that lack security often lag behind others, leading to feelings of regret among their populations.
Conclusion
As stated in the previous sections, security is one of the basic and essential needs of human life. Humans are in dire need of this vital blessing in their daily lives; therefore, the individual and collective responsibility for providing and maintaining security is significant. It is essential for all capable individuals to strive to create security, address its challenges, and ensure that others have the opportunity to benefit from this blessing.
This study examined the issue of security and its various dimensions from the perspective of Islam, the Holy Quran, and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The findings highlight that the Holy Quran specifically emphasizes the importance of security and regards it as a great blessing. Numerous verses have discussed this issue and its dimensions in detail.
Security, regarded as one of the pillars of individual, social, and worldly life and a precursor to the afterlife, is addressed independently and repeatedly in the Holy Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the teachings of the elders of the community. Therefore, we Muslims, who consider ourselves followers of the Quran and the Sunnah, bear a greater responsibility in this regard, and our commitment to this matter is significant.
We must strive to assist one another in securing this divine blessing and refrain from actions that threaten the security of society.
Today, if we examine the human condition, we find that security and tranquility are needed more than ever. The term “security” has become unfamiliar in many parts of the world. If security is established globally, people will never be displaced or homeless.
We ask Allah Almighty to grant security, stability, and tranquility to the entire world, especially to Muslims, as a valuable blessing, and to enable us to appreciate this blessing while striving to preserve and strengthen it. Those who benefit from this blessing should also express gratitude to God and remember that it is a grace and forgiveness from Him.
