The correct belief and the right belief are those that align with the verses of the Holy Qur’an, the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), the sayings and actions of the Sahaba of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the practices of the righteous predecessors and the good people of the past.
The correct belief is that which was held by the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his Sahaba, the righteous predecessors, and those who lived in the best centuries. The evidence for this can be found in the following verses and hadiths:
1. Allah says: «فإن آمنوا بمثل ما آمنتم به فقد اهتدوا وإن تولوا فإنما هم في شقاق» (“So if they believe in what you believe in, they are indeed rightly guided, but if they turn away, they are only in conflict.”)
2. «والسابقون الأولون من المهاجرین والأنصار الذین اتبعوهم بإحسان رضی الله عنهم ورضوا عنه» (“And the first leaders of the Muhajiroun and the Ansar, and those who followed them in righteousness; Allah is pleased with them, and [they] are pleased with Him.”)
3. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said about the Surviving Group: «وهم من کانوا علی مثل ما أنا علیه وأصحابي» (“They are those who follow the path that I and my Sahaba are following.”)
4. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) also said: «خیر الناس قرني ثم الذین یلونهم ثم الذین یلونهم» “The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them.”
These verses and hadiths clearly show that we must follow the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), his noble Sahaba, and the righteous predecessors—who include the followers and those who emulate them—in our beliefs and practices, as they lived in a time when seditions were few. After them, corrupt beliefs, false beliefs, and deviant groups began to emerge.
Man, always needs sound religious beliefs in his life, and this need is inherent in human nature.
Humanity’s need for a true religious belief stems from the desire to understand oneself and the surrounding situations, to comprehend the vast world of existence, and to find answers to profound questions that have long occupied the minds of philosophers and sages. Many have failed to provide convincing answers that can quench the thirst for knowledge and reassure the heart.
Indeed, the necessity for a true and correct belief is greater than the need for food. Through a healthy belief, hearts come to life, souls find peace and security, and bodies remain healthy. This belief fosters a blissful existence for both the individual and society. Without true and correct beliefs, people may live like cattle.
If a person does not understand the correct belief, he may stray down the path of deviation and misguidance, influenced by the propaganda of deviant groups.
