The Power of Reason and Its Domain (The 10th and Final Part)
Eastern and Imitation of the West
Regarding such ijtihad’s, Iqbal (R.A) states:
“Instead of the ijtihad of short-minded people, it is safer to follow the past.”
There is a concern that this tendency towards modernism in the East is merely an excuse for imitating the West.
Conclusion
Ultimately, we arrive at the point that reason has a specific field of operation and is effective only within its designated framework; it lacks efficacy outside these limits. Therefore, after reaching the boundaries of intellectual knowledge, we require divine revelation and guidance, which assist humans in distinguishing good from evil, liberate them from troubles, and guide them onto the right path.
Only with the understanding and philosophy of Islamism in mind can we effectively address the problems facing the Islamic world and seek solutions. Therefore, the first step on the path of Islamism is to have the courage to confront the challenges and articulate this matter clearly and decisively to the world: we believe that the only way to save and promote humanity is to follow Islam.
We hope that Allah grants us the ability to understand our religion correctly. (Ameen)
