The Importance of Security in Islam (Part 11)
    Personal Security
The meaning of personal immunity, personal security, or personal freedom is that a person should be free and secure from any aggression, such as murder, injury, beating, detention, imprisonment, exile, torture, torment, threats, blame, and other arbitrary illegal punishments or actions that are against his human rights and dignity, such as captivity, possession, exploitation, slavery, prostitution, etc.
Islam has a principled, strategic, and substantive view towards all basic human needs. Therefore, all types of security, especially personal security, are not excluded from this ruling.
By considering the Qur’an and Hadith, we conclude that these two sources have paid attention to this aspect of human life and have encouraged people to establish security, peace, and comfort. Translation: “Whoever does a righteous deed while being a believer, whether male or female, we will make him live a pure life, and We will reward them according to the best of what they used to do.”
In Tafsir Noor, under this verse, it is said: “It means an individual life full of contentment, satisfaction, patience for the sufferings of the world, and gratitude for the blessings of Allah.” Accordingly, collective life will be associated with peace, security, well-being, serenity, love, friendship, cooperation, and other constructive human concepts.
The Qur’an has paid special attention to the creation of security and the preservation of human lives; many verses focus on the preservation of human life and blood, enabling humans to strive for their perfection with peace of mind and a sense of complete security in society and a healthy environment.
Individual security can be considered the primary condition for the ideal and appropriate conditions of human society. In a society where personal security is guaranteed, people can engage in their work and lives without worries, free from fear. The essence of personal security is to create confidence and peace for individuals simply because they are human beings. This is achievable when they are protected from any danger that threatens their life and needs.
Personal security refers to a state in which a person can live physically and mentally free from fear and harm to their life, property, and reputation. In Islamic thought, individual security should be sought in the shade of piety, confidence, observance of divine limits, and faith.
To foster an ideal society, free from chaos, insecurity, and unrest, we must identify and consider the factors that contribute to personal security and pay attention to them.
