    Feminism (Part 25)
    Reasons and Wisdom for Polygamy
The Seventh Reason: Most of the time, a man travels for livelihood and business, and part of his business may require him to stay in another city for an extended period. During such times, he may not be able to take his wife with him. It is natural for him to have sexual needs during this period, and he faces a dilemma: either he seeks out a woman for an illicit relationship or he chooses to marry another wife. Given that he has no financial problems and is physically healthy, it is understood that the second option is the better solution.
The Eighth Reason: Sometimes a husband chooses a wife who is perpetually at odds with him. This conflict can leave the husband heartbroken and devoid of desire for her, making life unbearable. In such circumstances, the husband may decide to remarry. Notably, if the woman is aware of this situation, she may accept that her husband will take another wife without opting for divorce and may remain in her marriage.
The Ninth Reason: The institution of polygamy provides widowed and divorced women with the opportunity to remarry. Without the allowance of polygamy, many men may be disinclined to marry a divorced woman as their only wife. Nature dictates that men often pursue virgins first, making divorced or widowed women their second choices.
The Tenth Reason: There are instances when a man’s current wife is cold-tempered and lacks sexual desire. In such cases, what should he do? Should he divorce her and marry another woman, or should he take a second wife while keeping the first?
The Eleventh Reason: In every human society, the ratio of women to men is typically higher. More girls are born than boys, and households often contain more women than men. Censuses consistently show that when counting, women outnumber men.
The Twelfth Reason: Men are often more exposed to danger and death than women, particularly in hazardous job roles. For example, in incidents such as plane crashes, the majority of fatalities are men. The number of male casualties also tends to be higher in events such as car or train accidents, as well as maritime disasters, where most casualties are men who leave their homes seeking work, while many women tend to remain at home and are less exposed to precarious situations.
In times of war, men are frequently at the frontlines and suffer significant casualties. This results in many women becoming widowed or losing their guardians—fathers, husbands, and protectors. Census data from many countries involved in the Second World War illustrates that, in the aftermath, significantly more women than men were counted; in some instances, the number of women surpassed men by as much as seven to one. Therefore, if every man were to marry one woman, what would become of the remaining women?
