The Roles of the Prophet Mohammad, (PBUH), in the Sphere of Civilization (Part 13)
The Function of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, in the Field of Economy
    A. In the Holy Quran, the word “property” is used more than 82 times in different contexts, and the word “job” is used more than 359 times. This itself expresses the position of wealth and capital and the creation of a working environment.
    b. «هُوَ الَّذِي جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْأَرْضَ ذَلُولًا فَامْشُوا فِي مَنَاكِبِهَا وَكُلُوا مِنْ رِزْقِهِ وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ». Translation: “He is the God who made the earth soft and smooth for you; So, move in its heights and lows and eat from His sustenance and [know that] to Him is the return of all creation.”
He has made the land cultivable and agricultural, and has placed mines in its interior, encouraging Muslims to extract mines, in such a way that it is mentioned in the traditions that five times one tithe or zakat is taken from mines, and from irrigated agriculture, Twenty to one, and from unirrigated, ten to one tithe.
    c. He awakened the nation from the sleep of negligence and laziness and said: On the authority of Abi Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:  عن أبي‌هريرة رضي‌الله‌عنه عن النبي صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وسلم قال: «كان داود عليه‌السلام لا يأكلُ إلا من عمل يده». وعن المقدام بن معديكرب رضي‌الله‌عنه عن النبي صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وسلم قال: «ما أكل أحد طعاما قط خيرا من أن يأكل من عمل يده، وإن نبي الله داود علیه‌السلام كان يأكل من عمل يده»  Translation: It is narrated from Abu Hurairah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: Hazrat Dawud, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, does not eat food except from the income of his own hands. It is narrated by Miqdad bin Maadi Karb, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: The children of Adam have never eaten food better than the pain of their own hands. Allah’s prophet Dawud, peace be upon him, eats bread from the suffering of his own hands.
عن سمرة، عن النبي صلى‌الله‌عليه‌وسلم قال: «المسائل كدوح يكدح بها الرجل وجهه، فمن شاء أبقى على وجهه، ومن شاء ترك» Translation: Hazrat Samrah bin Jundab narrated from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that he said: Questioning others (begging) is distorting the questioner’s own face, i.e., it damages his own personality, whoever wants to leave this defect (in his face) or leave it (stop asking)
Like this narration, there are dozens of other narrations, and it indicates that human should work.
    d. In the field of construction, gardening and investment, he says: عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ‌اللهِ صَلَّى‌اللهُ‌عَلَيْهِ‌وَسَلَّمَ : «إِنْ قَامَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَفِي يَدِ أَحَدِكُمْ فَسِيلَةٌ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَاعَ أَنْ لَا تَقُومَ حَتَّى يَغْرِسَهَا فَلْيَغْرِسْهَا»  “Hazrat Anas narrates from the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: If the Day of Judgment is to be established, and you had a sapling in your hand, if he could plant it before the Day of Judgment, he should plant it.”
In the above hadith, the mention and encouragement of work, which is planting saplings, has all-round benefits.
ولفظ أحمد: «إِنْ قَامَتْ عَلَى أَحَدِكُمُ الْقِيَامَةُ، وَفِي يَدِهِ فَسِيلَةٌ فَلْيَغْرِسْهَا»; The Messenger of Allah (may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If there is a sapling in your hand when the Hour is to be established, then you should plant it.”
    e. There were many markets for the sale of products in Medina: Baqi Al-Zubair market in the east of Medina, a market in the Bani Saedeh cemetery in the southwest of Medina, Zora market in the west of Medina, a market near Sania al-Wada, Manakheh market, which is also a place for Eid prayers and Istiqa prayers. was, mainly agricultural and animal products and even jewelry (gold and silver) were offered in these markets.
