The Importance of Security in Islam (Part Three)
Security in Islam holds such high importance that the Islamic Constitution (Qur’an) and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, emphasize it repeatedly. Security, along with the factors and elements of an honorable life, contributes to people’s dignity; it is a fundamental desire of all living beings. Therefore, security is regarded as one of the basic pillars of life in this world. The significance of security is equal to that of food, for just as life cannot be imagined without food, it too cannot be envisioned without security.
Security is very important in the lives of individuals and communities, to the extent that it can be said: “Security is a vital and necessary intermediary for the natural life of human beings after faith in Allah and the monotheism of Allah.”
Regarding the importance of security, it should be noted that security is a human need and a natural desire of individuals, without which life cannot be sustained. No individual or society can function without it.
In fact, it can be said that security is a great blessing, and its absence brings about significant calamity and punishment. This point is well understood by those who have not benefitted from the blessing of security and who have faced the challenges and problems associated with insecurity. When security is present, people can see their lives, property, family, and honor safeguarded. For this reason, security is considered the first and most important foundation for the construction and development of a country or society.
Security is a vital, sensitive, and complex issue that requires significant attention, time, and resources from politicians, thinkers, decision makers, military experts, and others. According to sociologists, psychologists, and various scientists, security takes first priority in terms of importance after physiological needs due to its psychological, individual, and social significance.
Security is one of the most basic and crucial needs for people in life. A safe society creates an environment where all blessings can be utilized, and the enjoyment of these blessings is secure when it exists within a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Security is one of the greatest blessings that Allah Almighty has bestowed upon humanity. Therefore, in terms of its importance and necessity, security ranks first among the priorities of governments and nations. If we examine the budget allocations of governments, we find that the largest share is typically allocated to the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Interior. This budget reflects the significant responsibilities of these ministries in supporting and preserving the fate of the government and ensuring the safety of the people. Addressing both internal and external risks facing the government is crucial and requires extensive effort and significant financial resources.
The religion of Islam, which is complete and comprehensive, has planned for every aspect of human life, and it does not overlook this matter either. Rather, security has been prioritized to meet the needs of Muslims, ensuring their survival on earth, as well as their peace and comfort. Almighty Allah and the Holy Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, have provided guidance and solutions for Muslims to establish an ideal and secure society.
In the next part of this article, Allah willing, we will explain the position of security in the light of the verses of the Qur’an and its guidelines, for the benefit of our dear readers.
