The lifeblood of every family and government is a healthy economy. The use of opium, tobacco, and other drugs poses significant health hazards and risks to Muslim life, and it also results in considerable and irreparable economic losses for the addict, their family, and society as a whole.
Drug use reduces the country’s workforce, leading to a decrease in domestic production. This reduction in domestic production results in economic dependence, which in turn fosters poverty—contributing to cultural impoverishment at the societal level. As poverty spreads, the number of individuals turning to drugs increases, illustrating the direct relationship between poverty, addiction, and delinquency. Consequently, deviance and social disarray will also rise. The substantial funds squandered by addicts, if utilized productively, could create healthy job opportunities, stimulate economic prosperity, and enhance production—all of which would benefit society as a whole.
Physical and Health Damages
One undeniable fact, even acknowledged by the addicts themselves, is the harm addiction inflicts on their bodies. For instance, the yellowness, decay, and loss of teeth among opium, morphine, heroin, and tobacco addicts starkly demonstrate how these toxic substances quickly destroy robust bone tissue. If these poisons can pierce and obliterate strong bones, can the delicate tissues of flesh, skin, internal and external mucous membranes, and sensitive organs—such as the internal and external secretory glands—remain immune to their harmful effects?
Additionally, drug use causes irreparable damage to both individuals and society, including:
1. Weakening of brain cortex cells.
2. Weakening of cerebellar cells.
3. Dissolution of the spinal cord.
4. Brain attacks.
5. Inflammation of the optic nerve, leading to vision loss.
6. Spleen enlargement.
7. Vomiting and severe headaches.
8. Men are unable to have sex and eventually become sterile
9. Deficiency of lust in women and the creation of coldness.
10. Severe constipation, bleeding, and some gastrointestinal disorders such as duodenal ulcers, gastritis, lack of appetite, slowed movements of the stomach, intestines, etc. ؛
11. Skin disorders such as itching, skin spots, skin swelling, and facial wrinkles.
12. Lowering blood pressure and causing dizziness and dozens of other harms.
