    Addiction and Drugs (Part Five)
Effective Factors in the Spread of Drugs
Many factors play a role in the spread of drugs. Here, we mention a few of them (of course, each of these factors is important in its own context).
    1.Distance from Allah and Religion
One of the main reasons for the distribution of drugs and the entrapment of young people is their distance from religious affairs. A person who adheres to their religion is unlikely to seek to distribute or use drugs; however, unfortunately, people’s distance from mosques and gatherings of scholars has caused many Muslims to fall into the trap of this scourge. The consumption of these forbidden and impure substances can drag a person into a vortex of destruction.
    2. Family
The importance of the influence of the family on the individual’s behavior is so great that all theorists have paid attention to it. The family exerts diverse biological, social, economic and cultural effects at the same time; Therefore, it has a unique function that none of the other units of society can match.
Family Problems and Their Effect on Youth Addiction
Family problems can be divided into several categories:
    1. Parental Conflict: One of the important factors contributing to youth addiction is parental conflict. The differences between parents leave a negative impact, and the inappropriate and unfavorable family atmosphere causes the children of such families to turn to drugs and addiction. They may resort to drug use to compensate for the lack of love and affection from their parents. It is recommended that when conflicts arise between parents, these disagreements should be kept away from the eyes of the children.
    2. Parental Illiteracy: The level of parental literacy is also an effective factor in the occurrence of behavioral problems, including the tendency toward addiction. According to reports and surveys, the illiteracy of mothers has been identified as an important factor in students’ deviance.
    3. Failure to Provide Correct Role Models: Another factor in youth deviance is the failure of parents—who are the first educators of children—and school and university officials to provide appropriate role models. Unfortunately, many families introduce their children to Western cultural norms and irreligious practices from a very young age. They may unwittingly take their innocent child by the hand to gatherings of corruption and vice and make them watch vulgar movies. This action can inadvertently lead their child into a dungeon of misery and perversion. Consequently, many children strive to emulate movie characters or prominent foreign figures as their understanding matures, which can pave the way for addiction.
    4. Life Disorders: Permanent inconsistencies and the absence of one or both parents during childhood can negatively impact a child and lead them to experiment with drugs, starting with substances like cigarettes. Research conducted in Iran has reported that 23 cases emphasize this factor’s impact on addiction.
These are just a few examples of the problems that can lead young people into the trap of addiction. There are other factors that families need to be aware of, as they can also contribute significantly to their children’s potential for addiction:
    1. Child-rearing methods
    2. Proper parental treatment and behavior with children
    3. A large number of children leading to lack of attention and care
    4. Favoritism among siblings, which can result in neglect of others
    5. Living conditions
    6. Unhealthy friendships
    7. Exposure to foreign cultures
    8. Positive attitudes toward substances
    9. Lack of awareness about the harms of drugs
    10. Feelings of loneliness and helplessness
    11. Unemployment and excessive free time
    12. Illusory beliefs about sexual pleasure
    13. The abundance and availability of drugs
