The Danger of Mixing Men and Women in Academic Settings
Mixing men and women, as well as boys and girls, especially in schools, can lead to problematic situations. For instance, the Faculty of Agriculture at one of the Arab and Islamic countries takes mixed male and female students to a farm for training and a scientific trip. One of the male students, along with several female students, goes to the restrooms after class is dismissed, seeking privacy. A guard at the farm notices that the student has entered the bathroom with his girlfriend. The guard intervenes and detains both students, resulting in their public disgrace. – Al-Ayaz Billah –
– Often, male and female teachers who work together in the same school gather in the same room and joke with each other and say and laugh that corruption is promoted due to this ugly act and this forbidden mixing, and sometimes such husbands hate from their women and lose interest in their husbands; Because in the workplace and where these men and women talked to each other, they met more beautiful women, which ultimately led to divorce and separation from the ex-wife, and the reason for the separation of this husband and wife was actually the same teacher that did not observe the hijab and framework of Islam and had talked and became friends with Mr. Teacher.
– Even children who study in elementary classes and their teacher is a woman, when they go to higher classes and in the new class that lady is no longer their teacher, they describe the old teacher’s behavior and movements to their new teacher and at home to their father or brothers they describe how she would tilt himself and we would look at her thighs and legs.
Sanctity of mixing men and women
The sanctity of mixing and the causes that lead to mixing are clearly mentioned in the Qur’an and Hadith.
Allah, (S.W.T), says:
«وَقَرْنَ فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ وَلَا تَبَرَّجْنَ تَبَرُّجَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ الْأُولَى وَأَقِمْنَ الصَّلَاةَ وآتِينَ الزَّكَاةَ وَأَطِعْنَ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيرًا وَاذْكُرْنَ مَا يُتْلَى فِي بُيُوتِكُنَّ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ لَطِيفًا خَبِيرًا» Translation: “And stay in your homes and do not show off, just as it was popular during the time of Jahiliyyyah (ignorance), and perform the prayer and give the zakat and obey Allah and His Messenger. Allah wants to purify the unclean from the people of the Prophet’s house and make you a type of purity and remember what is recited in your homes from the words of Allah and wisdom, surely Allah is All-Knowing and Wise”
Islam has forbidden women to mingle with foreign men, so that this woman may not directly or indirectly, knowingly or unknowingly, destroy herself, and also Islam has ordered her to stay at home and not leave it. ; Unless she has a necessary job, and also, on the condition that observes Islamic customs and orders she is allowed to leave the house.
When Islam instructs a woman to stay at home, it mentions a word from the article “Qarar” and this is the best word that has been mentioned in this matter; Because this word gives the meaning of peace, assurance and description; That is, a Muslim woman who has not yet removed the veils of modesty and tries to stay at home, such a woman has peace of mind; Because she has not put herself in danger and is in a completely normal mental state, on the other hand, a woman who has no modesty is anxious when she leaves the house until she returns home and is worried about whether she will be assaulted on the way or not?
The mixing of men and women in the field of action and the workplace has a profound effect on the decline of the nation and the corruption of society; As it is known and it goes hand in hand, the reason for the collapse of Roman and Greek civilizations and their likes was the withdrawal of women from their field of work and entering the field of men’s work, which led to men being dragged into corruption and looking for fun day and night and competing in this field. Leaving the affairs of the country and close the important duties of government and administration.
Everything that pollutes the space of a woman’s dignity, Islam shortens its hand and prohibits it; Because a woman, even if she is one of the best and purest women, when she exposes herself to doubts, bad tongues will target them, and they will not be safe from it. Also, when the male nature meets the female nature, the same thing will happen that happens between any man and woman.
«عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: “لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ رَجُلٌ بِامْرَأَةٍ؛ فَإِنَّ ثَالِثَهُمَا الشَّيْطَانُ»
It is narrated from Syedna Omar, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said: “No man should be alone with any woman, because the third of them will be Satan.” And this is why Islam has forbidden the mixing of men and women.
During its heyday, Islam was able to build its brilliant and magnificent civilization, which was superior to any civilization in terms of humanity, decency, and high degrees, based on the prohibition of mixing men and women, and as the anti-Islamic feminisms are rampaging against Islam in the gatherings and media, The issue of the separation of men and women has never hindered the progress of the Islamic Ummah and will not.
