Ethics (Part 3)
Good morals in the family
The perfection of humanity is not realized only by asceticism and worship, but the human personality has many capacities, on the basis of which the perfection of existence is exalted; Because asceticism and worship have internal and psychological effects, their effects must be visible outside and in society, the foremost manifestation of which is the “family”; Therefore, respecting the rights of women in the family is a practical step of ethics that leads to respecting the rights of the spouse and makes a faithful life in the society and family and good behavior with the surrounding people a means of perfection and progress.
Therefore, in this direction, we learn the lesson of good morals at home from the Prophet of Islam as a model of morals in the family: «عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْقُشَيْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ: قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَاللهِ مَا حَقِّ زَوْجَةِ أَحَدِنَا عَلَيْهِ؟
Translation: “Hakim son of Mu’awiyah Qashiri narrates from his father who said: “I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the right of our women over us?” He said: “Feed them with what you eat, cover them with what you wear, do not hit them in the face, and do not insult them, do not leave them except inside their house.”
The text of the hadith consists of two basic things: one is to fulfill the rights of women and the other is to treat them well.
Before entering into the discussion, it is necessary to make a passing reference to “spiritual” education, because an education that is based on spirituality, as a result, also follows the rights of others, and its advantages will be good behavior and speech with others. Dr. “Vahbeh Zaheili” talks about spiritual education in the book “Family Jurisprudence” and writes: “Parents should pay more attention to this part of education, because this type of education is the basis for the development of feelings and emotions, in their refinement, settlement, transparency and causes the development of children’s personality; On the other hand, spiritual and spiritual education causes self-exaltation, purity of soul and mental health of the child from all kinds of diseases and moral vices and brings peace and comfort to them.
The virtue of good manners
One of the virtues of good manners is that Allah describes His Prophet (peace be upon him) with it; A description that Allah testifies to the actions and words of the Prophet and says: «وَإِنَّكَ لَعَلَىٰ خُلُقٍ عَظِيمٍ»؛ That is, you have a great temperament (pleasant qualities and gentle actions).
Hazrat Ayesha, may Allah be pleased with her, testifies to the Qur’anic ethics of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in the field of action and says: «كَانَ خُلُقُهُ القُرآنَ».
That is, “the morality of the Prophet, peace be upon him, was from the Qur’an.” In other words, the Prophet, peace be upon him, was moving the Qur’an and all the Qur’anic behavior was manifested in his blessed personality. For this reason, the Prophet, peace be upon him, expressed the final philosophy after worshiping Allah and the essence of the calling of the Prophets, peace be upon him, as Makaram Akhlaq and said: «إِنَّمَا بُعثتُ لاتَممَ مَكَارِمَ الأخلاق»؛”Indeed, I have been sent to complete the noble morals.”
