Allamah Syed Abul-Hassan Nadwi “R.H” (Part 5)
Knowledgeable Family
Allamah Nadwi was born into a family full of writers and authors. Although his grandfather did not benefit from this gift, his honorable father, Hazrat Allamah Syed Abdul Hai Hosni, held a high position in the field of composition and authorship. Notably in the field of men’s history, he was nicknamed “Nuzha al-Khwatar” (Ibn Khalkan Hind) due to his great book on the subject. He has other valuable books that attest to his high scholarly status. On the other hand, Allamah Nadwi’s mother and sister also left behind enduring works, which undoubtedly played a significant role in shaping Allamah Nadwi’s character and intellectual and spiritual development. Consequently, from the very beginning of his life, he developed a keen interest in books and reading.
He himself writes in his life caravan: “Our family is a family of scholars and writers, and our respected father was one of the writers of his time. Family and hereditary influences have become very strong and effective and are passed down from generation to generation and this trait can be seen more or less in all girls and boys. Part of these family effects and the taste and interest of the honorable father had made the whole family interested in books and reading. The interest of reading books had reached the level of illness and habit. in such a way that they did not leave any book unread; The money that reached these brothers and sisters for expenses, or according to the common custom, if the elder of the family gave money when they left, the best place to spend the money was baying books. From the very beginning of his childhood, the love of books had a great place in his heart; It was as if it was a dye of the same color as his fathers and ancestors, and this indescribable enthusiasm forced him to try and make efforts in the field of providing books, so that he dedicated a separate library to his name from his childhood, and in the way of quantitative expansion and he paid great attention to its quality, and this passion and interest sat in his heart at a time when he did not even have the ability to distinguish whether he bought the book from the library or from other shops?!
In the kind and nurturing lap of the mother
The mother is the best bed and the most suitable cradle where the child finds splendor and growth in the shade of her love and affection, and since the role of the mother in the mental structure of the child is very influential and the child also considers her to be his best confidant, it is one of the most fundamental foundations of growth. She can teach and guide the child in any way she wants. Among the signs of good fortune of Allamah Nadwi was that he became proud in the arms of a mother who not only performed her maternal duties well; she had also filled the void of his father. A faithful, sincere and lively mother who always thought about her child’s future and had great hopes and dreams for her.
Syedah Khair Al-Nasa was a mother who did not think only about the appearance of her child; But she also monitored his inner purity. she was not depressed and grieving for the world of her son, but she was thinking about the prosperity of his hereafter. She did not pay much attention to her child’s clothes and body, but she was thinking about the purity of his heart and soul, and she was always thinking about reforming her child.
Undoubtedly, Syedah Khair Al-Nisa was the best of women, just like her name. She was unique in worship and servitude, asceticism and piety, compassion and thinking of the Ummah, and according to Dr. Mohsen Osmani Nadwi, the Islamic Ummah has not benefited from a kind and selfless mother like her in this era… She was a follower of the Sunnah and was afraid of sedition and she always prayed that her family would not be caught in sedition and that her family members would be protected from seditions, and for this reason, she would take care to recite Surah Al-Kahf on Fridays so that it would be both a burden for her and an obstacle from Dajjal’s sedition and in any period of her life, she did not abandon prayers, Azkars, recitation of the Qur’an and midnight worship and did not neglect it; Even after her strength decreased and her age increased, she seemed to find new strength for recitation and after more than ninety years of her life passed, she said goodbye to the world. While the elemental composition of her body was at the end of weakness, the spirituality of her heart reached the peak of perfection.
