Who was Imam Bukhari “may Allah have mercy on him”? (The fourth and final part)
The beginning and end of the authorship of the book “Al-Jami’ al-Sahih”
Some commentators have said: Imam Bukhari started writing “Al-Jami’ al-Sahih” in 217 AH and finished it in 233 AH, which he completed in approximately 16 years. Some commentators have deduced from the date about the year it started and finished, that it started in 217 and ended in 233; but the period of sixteen years is certain.
Many scholars, considering the fact that Yahya bin Moin died in 233 AH, Ali bin Madini in 234 AH, and Ahmad bin Hanbal in 241 AHS; are of the opinion that the book was finished in 233 AHS; because Yahya bin Moin and Ahmad bin Hanbal saw this book and it was presented to them.
Imam Bukhari started writing the book at the age of 33 and finished it at the age of 49, and after that he lived for 33 years, during which time he taught this book and allowed his students to narrate it, and during this time, he used to do little else.
Authors sometimes revise their books and add or subtract something to it; Therefore, Bukhari versions are different; For example: Hammad bin Shakir’s version has two hundred hadiths less than Farbari’s version, and Ibrahim bin Muaqal’s version has three hundred hadiths less than Farbari’s version.
Characteristics and virtues of “Saheeh al-Bukhari”
Sheikh Abdul Qadoos bin Hammam says: “I have heard from the elders that when the Imam started writing this book in Riyaz al-Jannah (between the pulpit and the holy chamber of the Holy Prophet, PBUH), he prayed two rakats to write each hadith.”
Omar bin Muhammad bin Bahir al-Bajiri says: “This book was written in the “Haram Mosque” and Imam Bukhari, in order to write each hadith, performed ablution and prayed two rakats and then wrote the hadith.”
Imam Bukhari first took a bath and then prayed two rakats of Istikhara prayer. If the description of Sadr was obtained, he would insert the hadith and write it down.
This book not only has inner blessings; Rather, but it also reaches outward blessings, and Allamah Ibn Hajar said that if “Sahih Al-Bukhari” is read at the time of calamity, that calamity will go away, and if a ship is sinking, if it is read, that ship will be saved. Imam Bukhari for the reader of this the book said dua and he himself was called to supplication.
Allamah Jamal al-Din narrated from his teacher, Jalil al-Din, that I read “Sahih Al-Bukhari” 120 times, and anyone who has needs, it will be complete it.
Acceptance of prayer is confirmed after reading two books: one is the Great Qur’an, and the other is Sahih al-Bukhari.
The number of narrations in the book “Al-Jama’i al-Sahih”
The number of hadiths in Bukhari’s book with repetitions is “seven thousand two hundred and seventy-five” hadiths and without repetitions, “four thousand” hadiths.
Allamah Nawi confirms the opinion of his teacher, Allamah Ibn Salah, and Hafez Ibn Kathir in his book “Abbreviation of the Sciences of Hadith” adopted the opinion of Allamah Nawi and Allamah Ibn Salah. But the opinion of Hafez Ibn Hajr and other elders is that the total number of narrations is more than this and they wrote their number as “nine thousand and eighty-two”. and those that are not mentioned have also been counted and by removing and not considering the suspensions and follow-ups and observing the repetitions, he has stated “seven thousand three hundred and ninety-seven” hadiths.
There are 1341 hadiths whose texts are also mentioned in Bukhari’s book. Follow-ups 344, the total of which is “nine thousand and eighty-two” hadiths according to what Ibn Salah said, and Hafiz Ibn Hajar says: “Marfu’a’s narration is without repetition, there are “two thousand five hundred and thirteen” hadiths; But Allamah Asqlani (student of Ibn Hajar) said the number of hadiths after removing repetitions and suspensions, “two thousand six hundred and two” hadiths, and Seyyed Anwar Shah confirmed the count of Allamah Asqlani.
Moderation and prudence in Jarh and adjustment according to Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him
The Imam adopted another method for Jarh and adjustment other than the method of the narrators. Hadith imams and experts in this field, when they criticize a narrator, sometimes say: «دجال من الدجلة، وضَّاع، کذَّاب» And they use harsh words; However, whenever the imam comes across falsehood and lies, he is only satisfied with “denying the hadeeth” or saying ” فیه نظر»” or saying ” سقطوا عنه”.
Another place says: «کل من قلت فیه «منکر الحدیث» فلا تحلُّ الروایة عنه»”Whoever I call a denier of hadith, his narration is not authentic. And the negation of the hadith gives the meaning of the state”.
It is reported that the imam left 10,000 hadiths that he had memorized from a teacher who felt that this teacher was a teacher and taught him, and this shows the skill and caution of the imam in the hadith narration.
Conclusion
Therefore, as a result, we find that every person can follow the life of Imam Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, as an example in different aspects of his life, such as: traveling for the sake of acquiring knowledge, the effect of mother’s prayers, success in Allah’s tests and trials, moderation and moderation, and it can even be said that no There is no education that plays a role in forming the character of Muslims; Unless we find it in the behavior and character of Imam Bukhari.
Undoubtedly, we learn Jameel’s effort, effort and patience from Imam Bukhari’s life. in such a way that the teacher fulfills the needs of his student, and the student respects his teacher and understands his dignity and worth.
