The word faith is one of the words that have been presented with different views about its idiomatic meaning. As mentioned, its literal meaning is confirmation; But in the idiomatic meaning of faith, the question arises, what is the meaning of confirmation and what components does it have? In the literal sense of faith, three things are imagined:
1. Acknowledgment in language (confession).
2. Confirmation to the heart.
3. Approval of actions.
In other words, the idiomatic meaning of faith may be one of these three principles or a combination of them; therefore, it has provided the basis for producing different views about the term meaning of faith.
Morjaeh point of view about faith
This sect believes that faith is only the confirmation of the heart; therefore, it is enough to just get the confirmation of the heart. so, the definition of faith according to this sect is words and knowledge with the heart, without action.
There are two groups regarding the definition of faith: one group says that faith is only confirmation with the heart; and the other group says: Faith is confession with the tongue and confirmation with the heart; and another group of extremists went to extremes and said: Faith is only confession with the tongue.
All these definitions lead to the fact that according to them there is no value for actions, and it has no role in the principles of faith.
This sect tries to make people believe that the rank of actions is latter than rank of faith, and major sins do not harm faith. While they consider faith to be the knowledge of Allah and the mission of the Prophet, peace be upon him, they also assume that verbal confession is necessary for faith, but their main characteristic is to exclude action from the concept of faith; In other words, the action has nothing to do with faith, and they give the hope of Allah’s forgiveness to the perpetrators of major sins.
