The point of view of Ahl al-Sunnah and Al-Jama’ah
Previously, we learned about the opinion of ” Morjaeh ” who firmly believed in pardoning the perpetrators of major sins, and we also learned about the Mu’tazila’s opinion that they considered forgiveness permissible rationally and not by hearsay, and this was the view of the Mu’tazila’s of Basra; But the opinion of the Mu’tazila’s of Baghdad was that “forgiveness” is forbidden verbally and intellectually.
However, the opinion of Ahl al-Sunnah and Al-Jama’ah about the perpetrator of a major sin in the hereafter (Akhirah) is that they believe that pardoning the perpetrator of a major sin is permissible both in terms of hearing and reason.
Amadi writes about this: “Ahl al-Haq believe that a believer in the hereafter will be punished for his mistakes. Their difference is whether forgiveness is possible for him or not. The Ash’are consider this to be permissible rationally and aurally.
Abul Barakat Nasafi writes: “A person who commits a major sin who doesn’t consider it lawful and doesn’t despise the one who forbids it, doesn’t leave faith; Because the confirmation is still there, and no one comes out of faith except by the way he entered it. If a sinner dies without repentance, he is in the providence and will of Almighty Allah. Whether his sin is small or big, he will be tormented, then his end will be paradise and he will not remain in the fire of hell forever.
Therefore, according to Ahl al-Sunnah and Jama’ah, the perpetrator of a major sin has two situations: either Allah Almighty forgives him from the very beginning, with His grace and mercy or through intercession, or He punishes him according to the extent of his sin. and then he will enter heaven according to his promise, not by the individual’s own merit.
Saad al-Din Taftazani, in his explanation of the religion of Sunnis and Jama’ah, says: “The people of Islam differ about a believer who commits a major sin and dies before repenting: our religion is that we definitely cannot grant forgiveness or punishment and Let’s punish him; Rather, both are subject to the will of Almighty Allah; But if he is tormented, we are sure that he will not remain there forever; Rather, it definitely comes out of there, of course, not through obligation to Allah Almighty, but in accordance with the promise that Allah Almighty has given, and it has been proven with the same reason as the silence of the people of Paradise.
