    Freemasonry (part 41)
Continuation of the Discussion on the Affiliation and Connection of Judaism with Freemasonry
The Pillars of Freemasonry and Their Affiliation with Jewish Teachings
It is well known that Masonic lodges are built upon three pillars. Shahin Makarius describes these three pillars as symbols of Power, Wisdom, and Beauty. However, shortly thereafter, he explains that these pillars actually symbolize King Solaiman of Israel, Hiram King of Tyre, and Hiram Abiffnamely, the three Grand Masters. [1]
It appears that Freemasonry presents these pillars to a new initiate as symbols of power, wisdom, and beauty; yet when the Mason reaches higher Positions, he is told that these pillars in fact represent Solaiman, Hiram, and Hiram Abiff.
However, when we revisit Masonic sources, we encounter a new Torah-based interpretation. It becomes evident that these pillars refer to the pillar of fire and the pillar of cloud those two signs that God placed for the Children of Israel during their exodus from Egypt, so that they could move in daylight, while the cloud obscured Pharaoh’s path as he pursued them. It is said that King Solaiman ordered these two pillars to be placed at the entrance of the Temple as a memorial for the Children of Israel, so that they would see them upon entering and exiting the Temple for worship.
Thus, these pillars have multiple interpretations depending on the audience, but ultimately their roots and symbolism are Jewish, [2] which itself demonstrates the deep connection and affiliation between Judaism and Freemasonry.
Shahin Makarius, as a Grand Master and leader of Freemasonry, has scarcely left any symbol or element of Freemasonry without providing an explanation and interpretation, as he considered it his duty to clarify the nature and reality of this movement. Among these symbols are a point within a circle, two parallel lines, a book, and a ladder ascending toward the sky.
He states: “In every lodge that is lawfully and properly established, there is a point within a circle from which no Mason may deviate. This circle is bounded to the north and south by two straight parallel lines; one of these lines symbolizes Prophet Moses (peace be upon him), and the other symbolizes King Solaiman (MABH).
Above these is a book upon which rests Jacob’s ladder, whose end reaches the heavens. If we understand the contents of this book and act according to its instructions, it will guide us just like these two parallel lines toward the path of truth, a path where we neither deceive nor are deceived. And as we move around this circle, we inevitably encounter these two lines; if a Mason maintains himself according to this principle, he will never go astray. [3]
The key point here is that both this book and the ladder are also found in the Torah. Therefore, it can be said that all Masonic symbols, from beginning to end, are rooted in the Torah, which constitutes one of the clearest indications of the connection between the two.
The Role of Judaism in the Expansion of Freemasonry in Britain and the United States
At the beginning of the 18th century, King George I (1714–1727) ruled Britain, and he himself was a Mason. From that time onward, Freemasonry expanded in Britain. Hippes, in his book The Bible of Subjugated Peoples, writes: “From the day the King of Britain assumed leadership of the Masonic lodge, there remained no political figure or prominent personality in Britain who had not joined it—a lodge guided by Jews according to their aims and objectives. From that time, Jewish influence was no longer limited to political parties, but extended to full control over the fate of the nation, to the extent that Jews became superior to all others in our country.” [4]
They then sought to expand Freemasonry into their colonies, such that wherever they went, Freemasonry and alongside it Qadianism or at least the Bahá’í movement—would emerge.
From Britain, this movement spread to the United States. The French newspaper Le Monde, in its issue of September 17–18, 1978, published an article on Freemasonry and Zionism, stating that the government of Jimmy Carter was more supportive of Jews and Freemasonry than any previous U.S. administration. [5]
Continuing previous discussions, Muwaffaq al-‘Amri, in his book Freemasonry and the Bahá’í Movement, writes: “The British embassy in Baghdad and its consulate in Basra assisted Masonic lodges. The ‘Babylon’ lodge in Basra sometimes held its meetings in Saint Peter’s Church—the same church that was later investigated after July 17, 1968, because wireless signals were being transmitted from it. It was later discovered that some spies had transferred a wireless device there.”[6]
The Ceiling of the Masonic Lodge and Its Connection to Jewish Teachings
Another aspect of the connection between Freemasonry and Judaism is the ceiling of the Masonic lodge. It is colored like the sky and can be reached through a ladder known as the Ladder of Jacob (peace be upon him).
This ladder is named as such because Rebecca, the beloved wife of Isaac (peace be upon him), recognized through divine inspiration that her husband’s spirit was blessed. At that time, Jacob (peace be upon him) made a covenant with God that if he avoided His prohibitions and followed His commands, God would return him safely to his father’s home and make his descendants a great and powerful nation. And so it happened: after twenty years, Jacob returned safely to his homeland, and his brother Esau welcomed him kindly. Likewise, his beloved son Joseph (peace be upon him) became the Aziz of Egypt and the trusted keeper of its treasure.
Thus, the Children of Israel became beloved to God and grew into one of the greatest and most powerful nations on earth. [7]
It is possible that the choice of blue for the ceiling of the Masonic lodge symbolizes this perceived prosperity and success of Judaism and serves as a sign of the superiority of this tribe over others.
The Promises of the Torah Regarding the Return to the Holy Land
In some sources concerning Freemasonry, vague references are made to “blessed promises.” Upon examination, it becomes clear that these promises are rooted in Jewish teachings and the Torah, further demonstrating the connection between Freemasonry and Judaism.
Among these are the Torah’s promises that the Children of Israel will return to Palestine: “On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying: To your descendants I will give this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates.” [8]
However, the matter does not end here. There is also a more formidable promise stating: “The Lord will drive out all these nations before you, and you will dispossess nations greater and stronger than you; every place where you set your foot will be yours.” [9]
These are promises that serve as strong motivation and encouragement for both Judaism and Freemasonry toward dominance over nations and peoples. They anticipate the conquest of the Holy Land and the expansion of their influence and control. For this reason, these two movements work side by side toward shared objectives.
