The Miracle in the Creation of the Camel
If a human being reflects for only a few minutes on the creation of the camel, it becomes clear that this animal is a masterpiece of divine design and creation. The Noble Qur’an explicitly draws attention to this fact, saying: “أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلإِبِلِ كَيفَ خُلِقَت” Translation: “Do they not look at the camels, how they were created?” [1]

Eyes: Vision in Stormy Conditions
The camel possesses two layers of thick eyelashes which function like a double curtain, preventing sand and dust storms from entering the eyes.
The structure of the camel’s eyes has a magnifying capability, allowing it to perceive distant objects as closer and small objects as larger.
This ability enables the animal to detect the movement of humans or other animals from far distances.

Ears, Nose, and Respiratory System
The camel is capable of completely closing its ears and nostrils during sandstorms, preventing any particles from entering its respiratory passages.
This mechanism is not observed with such precision in other animals.

Legs and Movement on Sand
The camel has wide, spongy footpads, which distribute its body weight over a larger surface area, preventing it from sinking into sand.
This characteristic has made the camel an unparalleled means of transportation in desert environments.

Mouth and Ability to Eat Thorns
The camel’s lips are elongated, flexible, and thick, enabling it to consume the hardest desert thorns without extending its tongue and without losing moisture.
This is a vital advantage for survival in arid regions.

The Miracle of Water and Fat Storage
The camel is among the most extraordinary creatures in managing water and food. In a single drinking session, it can consume dozens of liters of water—equivalent to a full basin—and then survive for dozens of days, and even several months, without drinking water.
In emergency conditions, it supplies the required moisture from its body tissues without impairing its activity.
The camel’s hump stores fat equal to approximately one-fifth of its body weight, which is utilized during times of food scarcity.

Temperament and Emotional Interaction
Despite its size and strength, the camel becomes docile only when treated with gentleness and compassion. This reflects an inner softness and divine guidance embedded in its psychological structure.
Conclusion: A Miracle of Creation and an Invitation to Reflection
Whether in the cow—as discussed in the previous section—or in the camel, the structure of living beings is filled with complexities that cannot be explained by chance or blind processes. This precise biological system, from cell to organ, continuously testifies to the wisdom and power of the One Creator.
Pure milk emerging from between blood and waste, and an animal engineered to traverse deadly deserts—both are manifestations of divine signs.
They are an invitation to reflection: when a person reflects, he becomes amazed; when he is amazed, he becomes humble; and when he is humble, he draws closer to worship and gratitude.
If a person reflects even briefly upon these signs of creation, he reaches the truth that this world has been created upon wisdom, and that every creature is a sign of a Knowing, Powerful, and Merciful Creator.
“ٱلَّذِينَ يَذكُرُونَ ٱللَّهَ قِيَٰما وَقُعُودا وَعَلَىٰ جُنُوبِهِم وَيَتَفَكَّرُونَ فِي خَلقِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلأَرضِ رَبَّنَا مَا خَلَقتَ هَٰذَا بَٰطِلا سُبحَٰنَكَ فَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ” Translation: “Those who remember Allah while standing, sitting, and lying on their sides, and who reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth, saying: ‘Our Lord, You did not create this in vain; glory be to You, so protect us from the punishment of the Fire.’” [2]
