Satanism (part 31)
-
The danger of satanism to the individual and society
The challenge of Satanism is not limited only to religion, morality, and the values of society; rather, it directly places individuals and society under its dark shadow as well.
2.1. The danger of Satanism to the individual
This danger targets, in a comprehensive manner, a person’s belief, morals, health, identity, and lifestyle, and reveals its negative effects in the individual’s life.
-
a) Individual life
Satanism seriously threatens human life. Those who are drawn into these groups (especially adolescents and young people) are exposed to destruction in various ways.
-
Suicide
Satanic ideas encourage and incite individuals toward suicide through rituals, music, and lyrics, to the extent that so far dozens of members of this group have committed suicide individually or collectively. [1]
-
Sacrifice
In Satanism, there is a practice known as human sacrifice for Satan. According to their belief, Satan, through a priest, selects one of the members to be sacrificed. This act is carried out as a means of drawing closer to Satan. [2]
-
Leaving Satanist groups and exposing their secrets
According to Satanist protocols, once individuals obtain membership, they have no way out. Disobedience to Satanist commands is forbidden, and violators are confronted and ultimately tortured and killed. One of the leaders of this group emphasizes: all members of society can obtain our membership; but leaving it is like the soul departing from the body. [3]
-
b) Individual belief and morality
The aim of Satanism regarding individuals is to empty them of belief and morality; because only in this way is the path opened for accepting the deviations of this group, and the individual willingly joins their cult. In reality, before obtaining Satanist membership, individuals are stripped of religion, morality, and values, and become fully prepared to follow desires, whims, and Satan, because a person without religion and morality turns into a plaything in the hands of Satan and his followers.
-
c) The individual’s body and psyche
Unrestrained pleasure-seeking and limitless lust are among the main characteristics of Satanists. This deviation has led to numerous physical and psychological problems among them. The spread of diseases such as AIDS and skin disorders, most of which are transmitted through persistent sexual practices, is among the common afflictions of Satanism. In addition, due to the alterations that Satanists inflict upon their bodies, they are more exposed to skin cancer. Likewise, because this group stands in opposition to human nature and the inner moral voice, psychological and mental disorders are widely observed among them. The use of synthetic drugs and alcoholic beverages is another calamity of Satanism, which has extensive negative effects on individuals’ physical and mental health. [4]
-
d) Individual identity
Satanists essentially show no respect for the homeland or similar concepts; because they believe that all such identities must be erased and that everyone should come under the banner of Satan’s rule (which, according to their belief, will ultimately attain absolute domination over existence). Therefore, first and foremost, they seek to strip the individual of all religious, social, and other identities, and then enslave him to Satan. What this sect demands from its members is ingratitude toward family and society, and resistance against all values. In this way, they deliberately deprive individuals of their identity. For this reason, Satanists have no belief in the homeland, patriotism, or respect for family and their own values. [5]
2.2. The danger of Satanism to society
Society, which is the arena of Satanists’ activity, is not safe from the harm of this group and grapples with a range of problems, most of which are caused by this sect.
-
a) Intellectual deviation
When an individual is led astray, correcting him is relatively easy; but when an entire society is led astray, especially in an intellectual and ideological sense, its reform becomes extremely difficult. One of the problems that Satanists create in society is intellectual deviation. This deviation causes society to face stagnation in all dimensions and ultimately to lose everything it possesses. Deviation in belief and thought prepares society for irreligiosity and hostility toward religion, and this is precisely what Satanists seek. [6]
-
b) Threat to social security
Satanist ideas normally act as a factor in spreading hatred, resentment, murder, theft, and similar crimes within society. Now, if these ideas are officially recognized in a society, insecurity and chaos will be their first outcome. And if part of society tends toward accepting Satanist ideas, social duality will have a compounded effect on the spread of insecurity, especially when Satanists regard religious people as their enemies. And if the family-hostility, identity-hostility, homeland-hostility, and religion-hostility of this sect are added to this, the result will no longer be predictable.
-
c) Threat to the integrity of the family
The disintegration of families is another challenge that is produced by the beliefs and doctrines of Satanism and is rooted in the ideas of this group. From the perspective of Satanists, the family has no sanctity or value. Therefore, if something called the value of the family becomes an obstacle to an individual’s pleasure-seeking, one must stand against this value and negate it. In general, the family is one of the obstacles in the path of Satanists’ pursuit of pleasure; for this reason, dismantling its integrity is among the central axes of Satanist activities. [7]
From the collection of conducted studies and research, it becomes evident that Satanism also inflicts numerous other harms upon society, including:
-
Promoting a culture of hostility toward religion and its pillars;
-
Spreading a culture of hostility toward human and moral values;
-
Fabricating the history of the uprisings and movements of the Prophets and the role of Satan in the deviations of human society;
-
Promoting immorality, licentiousness, and various forms of addiction to chemical drugs and alcohol;
-
Universalizing a culture of irresponsibility and withdrawal from constructive individual and social activities;
-
The spread of vulgar language devoid of ethical elements;
-
Dissemination of incomplete mythological teachings from other cultures, lacking historical and scientific substantiation;
-
Desensitizing society to profanity and violations of sanctity against the Islamic system;
-
Widespread promotion of nihilism;
-
An increase in organized and gang-related crimes.
In view of the harms and threats mentioned, it is necessary to give attention to this issue across various dimensions. This includes controlling music-related activities associated with Satanists, filtering and controlling websites related to Satanism, controlling and preventing the production and import of clothing and cosmetic items bearing Satanist symbols, and similar measures.
