The Importance of Security in Islam (Part 17)
    Introduction:
Every individual in society, by virtue of being part of that society, should have their life, property, dignity, honor, and personal space protected and secure. In previous sections, two important types of security, “individual” and “social,” were discussed. Scholars and researchers have also identified other types of security, which we will explain here in more detail.
Islam provides the best methods and practices to safeguard the life, property, dignity, and honor of each person while considering various aspects of their life. It is a religion that offers guidance not only for the hereafter but also for a person’s worldly life, aiming to ensure their comfort, peace, and safety. A person’s life in this world encompasses various dimensions, each requiring security and tranquility. Therefore, individual security can be divided into several types:
    Personal and Life Security:
Personal security refers to the sense of assurance and peace one feels during adversities, hardships, and challenges. This security ensures that extreme anxiety and impatience do not manifest in an individual, allowing their mental state to remain stable and unaffected. Personal security is crucial in a Muslim’s life, as it enables the individual’s Islamic character to develop and fosters complete trust in Allah’s presence and assistance.
    Property and Asset Security:
One of the most critical forms of security is the protection of people’s property and assets. Individuals should not feel any threat in this regard; if they do, they will never feel comfortable investing in the city or country where they live and may even spend large sums to leave that place. This leads to societal stagnation and difficulties. In times of poverty and hardship, people may resort to theft or looting the property of others.
Dignity, Honor, and Human Esteem Security:
In Islam’s teachings, safeguarding individual dignity and human honor is paramount to societal security. Therefore, ethical and personal security within the community is emphasized and addressed through Islamic guidance in both prescriptive and moral imperatives, specifying do’s and don’ts for individuals in society.
    Personal Identity and Status Security:
Islam places special emphasis on the protection of every Muslim’s rights, ensuring that all are safeguarded and secure. No one is permitted to harm another, damage their reputation, diminish their standing within society, or create any form of insecurity that undermines their sense of self-worth or community status.
