Hazrat Firouz Dilami “May Allah Be Pleased with Him” (Part 10)
Qays’ Conversation with Aswad Ansi’s Wife
Qays Makshuh says: “I went to my cousin’s daughter, Zaz bint Shahr, who was Aswad’s wife, and said to her: “يا ابنة عمي! قد عرفت بلاء هذا الرجل عند قومك! قتل زوجك وطأطأ في قومك القتل وفضح النساء فهل عندك ممالأة عليه؟” Translation: “O my cousin! Undoubtedly, you know very well what calamity this man (Aswad Ansi) brought upon your people. He has fought against them, caused murder and bloodshed, and brought your city under his command. He is your husband. He has intensified the killing of your people and dishonored the women of your community. So, can you help us against Aswad Ansi?”
Zaz replied: “On what terms?” I said: “We aim to bring Aswad out of his house to kill him.” “Will you kill him?” she asked. “Yes,” I replied.
Zaz said: «نعم والله ما خلق الله شخصا هو أبغض إلي منه. فما يقوم لله علي حق ولا ينتهي له عن حرمة. فاذا عزمتم أخبروني أعلمكم بما في هذا الأمر.» Translation: “Yes, by Allah! I swear that Allah, (S.W.T), has not created anyone more detestable to me than Aswad Ansi. Therefore, any act arising for the sake of Allah Almighty must be supported, and regarding this matter, there shall be no renunciation of His honor and respect. If you have a serious intention to kill him, inform me so I can advise you and better prepare for this matter.”
The Confrontation Between Qays Makshuh and Aswad Ansi
Qays Makshuh continues: “Then I left Zaz’s house and saw that Firouz and Davozia were waiting to hear about our conversation. At that moment, Aswad Ansi called me to him along with ten of his relatives and said: «ألم أخبرك بالحق وتخبرني بالكذابة؟! إنه يقال: إن لمتقطع من قيس يده يقطع رقبتك العليا.» Translation: “Did I not tell you the truth, and now you give me false news and responses?! (The same jinn had conveyed that Qays was attacking your property, and Qays had denied that news.) I have been told (meaning: it is revealed by the angels) that O Aswad! If you don’t cut Qays’s hand off now, he will cut your neck.”
Qays recounted: “After that, I became absolutely certain that Black would definitely kill me; so, I told him: «إنه ليس من الحق أن أهلك وأنت رسول الله، فقتلي أحب إلي من موتات أموتها كل يوم؛ فرقّ له أمره بالانصراف.» Translation: “It is not right for me to perish while you are the Messenger of Allah! (Be aware of what is true and false in every piece of news; you know that I am innocent.) It is better for me to be killed than to die every day from the pain in my hand.” After that, Aswad showed me kindness, and his heart softened. He ordered me to return and leave.”
After that, Qays went to his companions and said to them: «اعملوا عملكم» Translation: “Everyone should do their own thing,” (so that Aswad does not become suspicious of us).
