Another field that secularism had a deep impact on and somehow isolated all religious teachings was the economic aspect of the West. This was while the West always despised the worldly life throughout its history, and made even what Allah had decreed as halal look worthless and always preferred poverty and simplicity and considered hunger and poverty as blessed and beautiful, and a way to be forgiven from the “first mistake”.
But suddenly this characteristic of them was reversed and Europe turned into a predatory animal in the field of economy and livelihood and attacked with all its might the fleeting goods of the world and set its eyes on lusts; In such a way that they forgot the hereafter and drowned in the world and became a true slave of material things and economic governments.
Economic sects in European history
Throughout the history of Europe, various economic sects have spread, among the most important of which the following can be mentioned:
1- The Theory of the Church and the Feudal system.
Although the church did not play a role in changing the lives of European people and did not make any efforts in this way, it had an active theory and thought in the economic field of the Middle Ages, in such a way that this center established and confirmed the “lord-serf” system and was somehow one of the institutions of the church. The church approved and acknowledged the atrocities that this type of system allowed to the poor and the weak. At first, the church prohibited usury, but after the 14th century and the beginning of the 15th century, this decree was also canceled, and the church’s votes were only theoretical and neglected.
So, it has been clear that the church had sanctioned usury that the theory of capitalism would not grow, and the roots of serfdom would not be broken, and this sanction was not due to the observance of religious principles.
For this reason, “George Soule” writes: “The church and its feudal lord allies in the Middle Ages felt that by the growth of the capitalist system, there would be a danger to their dominion and peace; For this reason, discrediting usury was one of the goals that indicated a new tool was working to break the foundations of the lord-serf system.
Features of the Feudal system
The Feudal system consisted of several people:
1- Sir and landlord, who was the main ruler and had strong influence and had non-exclusive and unlimited rights. He could even enslave his slaves and collect taxes higher than the government and…
2- Religious men; Religious men were considered among the lords and nobles of the serfs because of their spiritual dominance.
3- Slaves and servants; These were also people who did not accept Christianity and were treated like commercial and financial goods.
4- slave of the land; This person was also a farmer of a piece of land belonging to the feudal lord, and the owner of that land could expel or reject him whenever he wanted, and all the responsibilities of that land were on him. In the end, the farmer must return a major part of it to landlord.
What caused the effect of the feudalism system, the feudal lords, were two important things:
1- The relationship between the lord-serf system and the Christian religion.
2- Absolute stability and not accepting any kind of changes in all angles and fields.
This economic theory was a religious and economic theory.
